Williemdub - check out the "Potatoes" thread here on VF&N for things to do with potatoes, check out www.happyherbivore.com Her recipes use common ingredients. You can order agave nectar, or stevia (sweeteners) online and nutritional yeast (to add a cheesy flavour to vegan dishes) can be ordered online. Check out www.ohsheglows.com for vegan "burgers" and "meat"loafs. Substitute tofu for chicken. If you can't find tofu, substitute cubes of potatoes. Rice is a good base for vegetable dishes too. A great dip is combining salsa and hummus. There are great hummus recipes at ohsheglows and happy herbivore and can be made from a can of chickpeas, lemon and garlic.

My two daughters have been vegan for 15 years - at first I was concerned for their health, but they did the research and ultimately convinced me that it was the healthiest and most responsible choice they could make. I have been vegetarian and am now trying to become vegan, but living way up north is a challenge because of the lack of variety in the one store we have. Any advice?
Jinnlee, I feel the same way regarding this vegan lifestyle. No longer am I controlled by corporations making food addictive instead of nutritious so they can turn a profit. No longer am I fooled by producers of frankenfood, which they claim is perfectly fine, although since their introduction, food allergies and autism has gone up 600%, not to mention the numerous fertility clinics across the nation. No longer am I being filled with dead animals violent emotions nor do I play a role in their death. No longer am I sitting around waiting to feel better. I can make choices that benefit me (N0 GMOs) and no longer believe the lies saying it's too expensive or inconvenient. I love my life and I think the world would be better off if everyone could become clean of their food addictions and stop listening to the so called experts and find what works for you.
I believe in myself, I am a strong woman. I will reach my goals, NOTHING & NOBODY will hold me down. I will live my life with integrity and intention. I will set a good example for my daughters and my son. I will be a woman that makes my grand children proud when they look at pictures of me long after I've left this earth.

Hi, I've been a vegan for 10 months now. Best thing that I ever done for myself. Never ever looked back. I was very close to being in a wheel chair due to Arthritis. Now , not only can I walk without pain, I can run and I'm 67 years old. It's a great life.
