The numbers may be fooling you. Carbohydrates are good if they come in the form of whole foods and not processed boxed foods. All veggies, beans and fruits are complex whole food carbohydrates and are incredibly good for you.
As for protein. Spark has the wrong numbers for vegan and vegetarian folk because they assume you overeat meat like most of America and thus their numbers spring from their. Most women are fine with 30-40 grams of protein a day and men are good with 40-50. I can send you the some links showing research from the FDA and World health Organization with the numbers if you want to see/

Take this first week to familiarize yourself with the tools here. Once you get used to using them, it becomes easier to use them even when you are busy. Personally, I spent my first week learning to use the tools, and just tracking everything I was already eating and doing for exercise. It gave me a baseline to work from. It also gave me a chance to really decide what my goals were, and how to get there.
This site can only provide the support and the tools to reach these goals. You need to put the hard work in. Personally, I end up kicking my own butt every day. Feel free to check out my blogs to see how I kick my butt out the door to get my fitness in. I can tell you, once I am finished with my exercise for the day, I feel great. No more I should do this and I should do that. Instead, I feel accomplished, and able to relax and enjoy the rest of my day.

Hi I'm new to Sparkpeople. It's made me look at my diet and lifestyle in a more critical light. I've found that my diet is low in protein andhigh in carbohydrates. I was getting a lot of extra empty calories through junk food and snacks. I've started the 10 minute daily exercise streak and this together with logging my food has made me much more mindful.
