Wow! Yes very similar. Nice to know I'm not alone!

Jayne - Lotta similarities here! I started SP & vegan 9/8/12 (after dabbling for MANY years), and in October took the unprocessed challenge and never looked back. Once I was eating unprocessed it became more clear that I had gluten sensitivity. AND I never cooked much at all - and had no desire to - before this process. But the weight I wanted to lose came off, I never felt deprived or hungry, my cholesterol plummeted... So it's been worth the extra effort of cooking. And this site and the Vegan Fitness & Nutrition board have provided a lot of information and support. Welcome aboard! I'm sure you'll succeed!

Some people think the “plant-based whole foods diet” is extreme. Half a million a year will have their chests opened up and a vein taken from their leg and sewn onto their coronary artery. Some people would call that extreme.

Hi folks,

I've been on SparkPeople for about a month, but this is my first time on the boards. In the last 4 weeks I've lost 7 and a half pounds... okay, okay 7.4 if you want to get technical. :)

I've been struggling with some health issues so this downward movement of the scale is a great sign that I'm on the right track. Say it with me... wheeeeeeee!

I'm a Canadian gal from the East Coast. I've been a vegetarian for years and more recently discovered I'm gluten intolerant. In the last 4 weeks I've started eating "clean"; meaning no processed foods. This is all much to the dismay of my mother who now deems me "impossible to cook for". Had I known it would get me out of eating her casseroles I would have done it much sooner. *heh heh*

I have about 47 pounds to lose to get back to both my healthy weight range and where I feel most comfortable. I have set some smaller goals to start with. I have a suit I'd like to fit into for an important meeting next month. I've got just over 5 weeks and I'm guessing about 7-10 pounds before it will fit. It could be close, but I'm going for it!

I used to be the laziest and worst cook ever... well I still am, but I'm trying. I haven't burnt anything in a few days anyway. Hahaha!

It's nice to meet you all and I'm happy to have some companions on this journey.

Onward ho!

Jayne
