If I find a link for how MUCH protein, I'll try to post it - the forums I've been on suggest that SparkPeople's guidelines are higher than most vegetarian health plans recommend. There is a way to go in and change those requirements for your food log. ( I hope I'm not repeating previous posters...I'm multi-tasking!)
He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

You never need to eat tofu if you don't like it. You never need to worry about having enough protein if you eat a variety of veggies, fruits, whole grains and legumes in your diet. ( really that is not true either. the truth is you could eat nothing but white potatoes every day and get enough protein to live, you would just get bored) The meat and dairy industry push protein in their adds to make you think it is the most important nutrient. They are really good at marketing aren't they? DON"T WORRY ABOUT IT! Even spark nutrition tracker assumes you eat meat and their protein goals are VERY HIGH and for meat eaters. Here is a link to let you calculate the World Health Organization and RDA guidelines to figure out your protein guidelines.
If you eat a wide variety of fruits and vegigies, add some grain and nuts you probably are getting enough protein...even without tofu. I hope that you would give tofu another try; there are so many ways to serve it. This morning, I enjoyed a tofu scramble, Just crumble tofu in a frypan, I added turmeric and cumin and some chopped onion, green pepper and tomato...yummy! Tofu is an acquired taste and sometimes needs to be tried several times to find the way you enjoy it, good luck.

Welcome back and congratulations on tracking your food so well!! This is one of the best ways to reach a successful weight loss goal! That being said, it looks like you need to be less concerned about your consumption of protein and more focused on your daily intake of simple carbs such as pizza and granola. Feel free to send me an e-mail if you would like more suggestions and good luck!!! You WILL succeed!!
Hi Everyone! I'm back after a short lived attempt last year ut this year it's going to stick! I've been a vegetarian since 2001. I still eat cheese and a very few other dairy products but have given up eggs and most dairy. My biggest eating challenge is getting enough protein in my diet, especially since I don't eat tofu. I'm working hard at it everyday though! Hope to meet other veggies to share recipes, gain some wisdom from, and have some great conversations! Nice to meet you all!
