I have known several "fat" vegetarians as you put it. They eat more things like lentil roasts and pasta than veggies. When I first transitioned I over did on processed fake meat and pasta dishes. Now I eat mostly raw veggies and make my own vegan sauces, vegan sausage (that I eat sparingly) and pasta for my cooked meals. I recently cut out most oil, I'm still working on that, thanks to a reply to a post by one of our members.

We are on a journey to healthy eating and living. There are days that are harder than others for me, but I keep going. When I slip I pick myself up and start again. We only fail when we fail to try again.

I reached my goal weight by following plans like Happy Herbivore's and Dr's Esselstyns. If you go to Happy Herbivore's website you can download her meal plans. You have to pay for them, but since you no longer waste food, you end up saving money in the long run. She gives you a list for grocery shopping a calorie count to follow every day. Snacks... everything. Her plan is vegan though.. The food is delicious. I have her books and follow her on FB too. You eat a TON of food and are never hungry. In fact if you ARE hungry eat more food. Because the food is good for you and nutrient dense and low calorie you can eat until you are full.

Plus the recipes are EASY to make with just a few ingredients and spices. ANYONE can make them!

Thats how people react to me or they are like "what do you eat?" I just became a pescatarian....I eat seafood occasionally....when i first made the switch I ate too much pasta. I've tried adding new foods like tofu and veggie burgers and it became a lot easier! Goodluck you can do it!

I have been vegan for over a year and have lost some weight but find that I still have to watch and restrict my use of oils, and processed foods...keep working at it and you will find the scale tipping in the right direction..

My oldest daughter is a vegetarian and she struggles with her weight. I see her eating a lot of unhealthy carbs..... and cheeses. Start taking a very careful inventory of what you're eating and how much you're exercising - hopefully that will help you to see where you can make better choices? Have you seen a doctor for your weight? Perhaps there's other contributing factors? Best of luck! Pat

I believe in myself, I am a strong woman. I will reach my goals, NOTHING & NOBODY will hold me down. I will live my life with integrity and intention. I will set a good example for my daughters and my son. I will be a woman that makes my grand children proud when they look at pictures of me long after I've left this earth.

what are you eating, when vegetarians are heavy it is usually because they eat junk foods like chips cookies candies and such, also replacing meat with pastas and grains also puts on weight as does processed foods. and don't forget to exercise. hope this helps

Mike

When people first find out that I'm vegetarian, they can't believe it. People assume that all vegetarians are thin. And all we eat is lettuce. Well, I've been a vegetarian since 2003, but I'm still not healthy. I want to get healthy, lose weight, and feel better.
