I use to be underweight, low in Iron and every other vitamin and nutrient. I had a pre cancer scare and decide to go vegetarian. After I did this I had more energy and had no problem gaining weight. I couldn't realize what I was doing wrong until I joined Spark People, just by chance browsing for a good food monitoring site, ta dah! I was eating too much salt and carbs and not enough of any other nutrient, especially not enough potassium. I have actually lost 40 pounds since I started this site (at the time was too embarrassed to post my real weight). Over the summer I ended up gaining 2 lbs, but I signed up for the spark 5 k training, and have complete faith I'll see results once more

I was a vegetarian for many years, then about 8 years ago started to eat a little meat. After I had my heart attacks & 3 stent placements (May 2011 and Sept 2011), I got to where i couldn't tolerate animal protein at all. Evey time I ate it, I'd get sick on my stomach. I started back eating vegetarian just over a year ago and then it got to the point that milk, cheese, and other dairy products were doing the same to me as the meat did. I am Lactose intolerant, so it was not hard to stop the dairy products. I went Vegan about a month ago and am feeling much better, but it was very hard to find good recipes for Vegans. I joined SparkPeople to get help with loosing some weight that I'd put on since I got sick. I can't tell you how happy I was to come across this forum. I will be getting the cookbook, for my Kindle, and am exited to try some of the recipes. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hope to share some recipes.
"I can't" can never do anything, but "I'll try" can always do something!
