Hello and welcome! You have the right attitude regarding a diet of simple whole foods. Along this line, perhaps you could have a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter instead of a larabar with your lunch? As far as creamer substitutions, I always use "So Delicious" dairy free coconut milk creamer in y coffee. It is just as creamy as half and half....I promise!! PS: My creamer in the coffee was the hardest for me to give up as well! (We're currently overseas and I have no access to plant based coffee creamers here..) Over time I got used to vanilla flavored almond milk.. but yes, it's not the same! LOL I'm sure you can find a nice alternative from the Silk company or others!
Hi, I'm new but looking forward to being part of this group. I've been a vegetarian since I was 8, but have always struggled with my weight due to an unhealthy carb filled vegetarian diet, lack of exercise, and a family history of obesity. I have been overweight most of my life, though I have been thin before and am looking forward to having that feeling again. I am always looking for quick and easy recipes/meal ideas, and am of the mentality that simple is always better. My lunch usually consists of one fresh fruit, one veggie (carrot sticks, sliced peppers, etc.), and a lara bar, so simplicity is key for me. To quote Thoreau, "Simplicity, Simplicity, Simplicity!". I started my weight loss tracking last week (September 4th start date) and am on track so far. My new goal is to transition into a healthy Vegan lifestyle (I'm just having trouble giving up creamer in my coffee). Hoping to make fresh fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains make up a majority of my diet with a minimal amount of soy protein and other processed foods. I'm looking forward to getting tips and encouragement from other Vegetarians/Vegans out there. I'm tired of all the fad diets and failed attempts and am finally ready for the real deal and total lifestyle make over for life.
