All the ideas below are great ones. I just pass on the non-vegan foods that others in my house eat. When I am cooking, they eat my stuff. Sometimes that means that when they cook I use the microwave to bake some sweet potato or some broccoli, but what the heck - it's better than eating the fat filled animal bits.

For now could you eat their sides, make yourself some beans and eat a salad or some fruit to go along? You don't have to have any fake meats at all. If they have tacos, just have black beans or grilled chickpeas in your tacos along with the lettuce, tomato and salsa. If they are having spaghetti, reserve some sauce before they add the meat balls. If they are having beef stew. Make yourself a salad and throw in some chickpeas, and have a small baked potato. It is hard but just do the best you can. Good luck and welcome to the team.

Hey there. I understand my husband is a meat and potato kind of guy and I am slowly going all natural and organic foods. It is hard but you can do it. You maybe even be able to introduce new recipes to them to help them see how great it can really be.

My name is Cassie, and I am a soon-to-be vegetarian. Right now it's kind of hard for me to have a special diet (when I say that, I mean a diet different from everyone else in the house). My husband and I are currently living with his parents until our house is done being rebuilt, so there's not much room for any foods other than what his mom brings home. Anyway, enough of my life story for the moment. lol Any tips for this newb would be greatly appreciated! :)
