Welcome to the team! Coyotes would get chickens in my yard unless I kept them penned. Do you have to keep them protected at all?

Reading your intro post makes me smile. Thank you for your great intro. Say hi to your chickens for me. I am straight vegan! LOL

Hello to all! I've been away from Sparkpeople for awhile, but now I'm back, with new resolve. I've been considering switching to a vegetarian lifestyle for quite some time, first for health reasons, and then for ethical ones. The practices of factory farming are horrifying to me.
This year we've been raising chickens, so that I know my eggs are from chickens that are living a great life. In watching them forage happily around the yard, providing great fertilizer for the garden, and in getting to know their personalities, I have come to the point that the thought of eating them or any another chicken has become, well, unthinkable. Same goes for pigs and cows.
So I'm so happy to have found this team! Looking forward to learning, losing and supporting together.
