There are also lots of exercise videos on Youtube that don't cost anything. They are anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes or more in length and are for sitting and/or standing. Check them out.

Instead of measuring weight, how about measuring inches for awhile??? Sometimes our bodies just need a chance to catch up. The weight will stay the same or fluctuate a bit, but the inches will continue to drop. Just something else to think about!

Need more advice....

In everything I have been reading, it advises to not do the same cardio activity as your body gets used to it and adjusts. I have been using my elliptical mostly and now that Spring is here adding in walking. I know I am not walking fast enough or far enough to burn substantial calories, so I haven't recorded my walks as fitness minutes. In years past, I did just do elliptical and lost weight consistently. Now I am losing then gaining more back the following week. Frustrated.

I have lost my losing groove and that is making me lose my motivation. I know, I know...I can't focus on scale...believe me, I am trying to not do that. BUT....I still feel defeated.

At this point, I am not able to do my YBB DVD because of my ankles. I am thinking of joining Curves, but really can't afford it. I have rented Zumba from library - but there is a wait. Do I REALLY need to add variety to my cardio in order to keep the weight loss going? I know any movement is good, but I don't want to add more obstacles to burning fat. Has anyone tried the Fast Metabolism Diet?

Need a good spark in the rear to get me focused and motivated again!

I am all in...one day at a time. I CAN DO IT!

I think our bodies retain weight when we are stressed. Take a deep breath and know that all the changes you are making are making you healthier. Focus on what you're doing right and not so much on the scale.

Sorry for your gain. We will keep pushing, right? Today is another day, tomorrow is a new day.

I feel defeated! I gained this week, too. My official weigh in is tomorrow, but pretty sure the scale isn't off just because I weighed today to post. Almost 4 lbs! I knew it was SUGAR. My dr just gave me a metabolism lesson and confirmed my guess. NO REFINED SUGAR for me. My body turns it right into fat.

I really hate how much control that stupid scale has over me! I don't want to feel like a failure, especially since I was at the low end of my calorie range and increased my activity! Lesson learned...no more sugar.

I am all in...one day at a time. I CAN DO IT!

Screw the eating, you have more important things to do. Take a walk and a deep breath. (not necessarily in that order). Only go under covers if there is someone under there with you (tickle contest). Go to the restroom and make faces at your reflection in the mirror. Count backwards from 100 by 7's. Watch a YouTube video of Whose Line is it Anyway?

Are you getting it yet? Foolishness can help. It is hard to be stressed out if you are smiling & laughing.

With the bank - remember that you are the customer and it is their job to keep you or not. Exercise that right too.

This one's real --- no April Foolishness --- no "crying wolf".

In less than 15 minutes -- I've had someone walk into my office and bring up and issue I thought was dealt with --- they should have went to someone else -- but came to me.

And then -- received email from bank --- we are in process of buying another house! We may have to change banks because things aren't progressing through our bank --- we have the loan --- it's just moving things forward.

I just feel sick -- I want to EAT --- I want to scream --- I wanna go HOME emoticon I wanna just hide under the covers !

I am having the Roux n Y procedure as well. It's the only one my insurance will cover. Also, the bariatric surgeon says it is the best for me. We'll see!

SkirtGirl ~ Okay.....Okay.....I'm here!!!! I LOVE the video!!!! I am trying to come out of a funk & get motivated to get packing & downsizing!!!! Everything I pick up has sentimemtal value & I want to keep it but I know I can't so I get discouraged!!!! Trying to do this alone is overwhelming!!!! I LOVE to have music on & dance though!!!! My boys even join me!!!! LOL!!!!

BunEE _ Good for you!!!! Even with the issues I've had, I would have the GBS again in a heartbeat!!!! In fact, now that my pouch is stretched, wish I could have a do over!!!! I was a soda-fil before my GBS!!!! My fav were the little 8oz glass bottles of coke!! I was in the 2% that have severe nausea after the surgery & I had it for almost 2 months, still do every once in a while!! MD recommended SIPS of 7 Up so Jim got me some little cokes!! I took one sip & spit it out.......it tasted VERY metallic to me!!!! Some foods don't taste the same, don't know why but it is true!! I just wish I had ignored Jim & Mom & followed the nutritional instructions & then I would not have regained 100# of the 155# I lost!!!! I am really happy for you!!!! I had the Roux n Y procedure, what are you having?? Back then the lap bands were still experimental so the RnY was all that insurance would pay for!!!! If you have questions for the nurse in me, just ask!!!!

Dee ----- I went to a weight loss workshop about a year ago. One of the messages really hit home and I saw it in one of the SP topics titled something like 10 things we can learn from children. As adults, we have forgotten how to play. Everything we do is for a purpose --- something to check off the to-do list. And this is something that I am needing to get my psyche around and embrace too. We need to incorporate Fun back into our lives ---- whether it is riding a bike because we enjoy it or going line dancing with our girlfriends. Just because it isn't our "routine exercise" does not mean that it isn't movement. Or trying yoga because after a good session we feel so good ----- not the same as aerobics, but we have stretched and gotten our blood circulating and our mind refreshed.
And now having said that to you, I am going to find a way to make that one of the goals at the start of my next 15 day target streak session.
What about the rest of you? Up for doing something Fun? emoticon

Kind of there myself with exercise --- but I'm walking. Walking is my go to exercise. I put in earbuds and turn on a book.

another suggestion -- PLAN to do some type of exercise for 10 minutes --- usually it's "just" the getting started for me!

emoticon Judging by the empty bottles on my counter... I'm a pop-aholic!

I've been in a real exercise slump. emoticon
I had a real active routine (dance class, water aerobics, and ST). Then I just stopped. Now, I'm having trouble starting up again. I might need something "New" to get me interested again.

Any suggestions?

emoticon Sorry, been busy all day!!!! But, I finally made it!!!
emoticon Hi, my name is Beverly and I'm a soda-holic!!!
I really need to get off the soda (yes, I'm from the East Coast!)! I want to have gastric bypass surgery later this year, and soda is one of the things I will NOT be able to have after that. Since learning that, it's like my soda addiction has gone through the roof!

I'm hoping to get in more water water ---- but for now ---- I'm drinking green tea on ice most of the time to keep off the diet pop!

I'm not addicted to the caffeine any more --- I got myself weaned off the caffeine --- I don't know what my connect is to diet pop --- FIZZ --- caramel coloring --- artificial sweetener?? that's one of the reasons I won't drink crystal light ---- and I've switched to yogurts without artificial sweeteners.

I will substitute unsweetened tea for my servings of water sometimes. It isn't so much the caffeine as it is the flavor. Sometimes sweet drinks don't cut the thirst.

Personally would rather have an ice cold Root beer instead of the adult beverage. My thing with most soda is more a way of doing caffeine since I don't do coffee. Some days (especially in winter) even though I like drinking water, I just can't make myself do it. I do like the peach tea flavor Crystal Light in my water those days the plain stuff just can't make it to my lips. It is rather sweet, so I make a little single serve packet stretch for two or three bottles of water.

emoticon One of my secret pleasures is to order the Largest Size Cup of Soda at McDonalds and refill it over and over again. I've tried making myself fill it once with water and drinking all of that before having a soda. I usually only have one soda after all that water.

Wow Randy - you just got to the root of the issue -- your thoughts since high school. You have made some very strong emotional ties to drinking pop. "I can have as much as I want..."

In the back of your mind, giving up the pop is the same as denying yourself. That is the hard conversation you need to have with yourself. It isn't that you are denying yourself pop, it is that you are CHOOSING better alternatives.
