I committed on the POW thread to staying in my calorie range. Since I didn't exercise today and had a couple of snacks, I would have gone over if I'd eaten my planned dinner, so I took a look at my dinner, halved the quantities, and removed the high-fat ingredient. So I am still in my calorie range, and I had a nice (if smaller than planned) dinner. Woo-hoo! I rock.

I actually got dressed and walked outside around the apartment walkway three times and talked with my neighbors. Although I don't walk that fast due to chronic pain I am proud that I actually was able to go around three times.

Let's see - lot's of little things going right today.

First TGIF! and my office has Monday off so we are heading into a long weekend!

This morning's weigh in was DOWN a couple of pounds - glad to see the scale moving in the right direction.

I have been able to check in with FSC daily for an entire week straight! AMAZING!

And - after having a virus attack the office server yesterday - everything is working without a glitch today! HURRAY!

Yesterday, I was cleaning out the refrigerator at church and ran across mini carrot cupcakes-and I did not eat them. Carrot cake is my favorite-I had enough calories for 1 but I realized that I wasn't hungry. emoticon

I just realized that for the first time in years, I had a day trip on Saturday-outside all day in 100 degree weather, made it to church on Sunday morning, sang in the choir, shopped for groceries after church and did not have to take to bed Sunday afternoon so I could make it to work today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my first gain since July 18th --- I'm not proud of that -- but I am proud of NOT being thrown off the path with the gain last night. I didn't beat up on myself. It will come off again and I had 6-7 weeks with no gains. Still proud of that!

My proud moment... I'm actually starting to crave healthy food. I know, I can't believe it myself. I have a mouth watering watermelon, strawberry, fresh pineapple, and cantaloupe salad in the refrigerator that I just adore!!!

You both are doing so well!

Speaking of bad moods...Mine isn't exactly "bad." I just feel kind of blah lately. Nothing really wrong. Maybe I'm fighting off the virus my son has been sick with. I don't know. I just feel tired, and a little cranky. Maybe not cranky...non-compassionate?

Anyway, I feel asleep before 8:30 last night. I was so exhausted. Woke up this morning, and didn't want to go to the pool. Just wanted to stay in bed. BUT - I'd had a full night's sleep, so I made myself get to the pool anyway! That's my one thing to be proud of lately.

Yesterday:
brought my packets of tuna --- bought a garden salad and banana at the cafeteria and added my tuna.

I guess this is the place we can toot our own horns ..... but back to "bad mood Monday" -- I think I do feel proud of myself for not letting my mood affect others!! I think that it helped today's mood .... so "acting as if" worked.

TODAY: got up and to the gym at 6:30 --- good workout S.T. and cardio

Mood --- better than average today!

My Proud Moment: Ordered the spinach and cheese quesadilla instead of steak. Last month, I couldn't convince myself to try it. I absolutely loved it. So delicious!!
Hula hooped for a few minutes and did a few reps with hand weights so I had some exercise for the day.

My Proud Moment: I ate 1/3 of a pie slice instead of the whole slice. I prepared a fruit salad that should last me all week. I decided to dance instead of taking a day off from exercise.

My proud moment: Funercise!! We went to our favorite bike trail and rode 9 miles in 90 minutes. Beautiful 70 degree day, spent with my DH, doing something active and fun!

That's so smart with the bread, Dee! I have an Outback meal that I love. Teriyaki steak medalions with grilled peppers and onions and seasoned rice. The entree alone is 750 calories, so I can make it work into my range. The time I got it, I ordered green beans for one side and a baked potato for the other. The potato I took home for lunch the next day.

My proud moment is that in spite of being very tired and not wanting to to a thing this evening, i got my weekly snack prep done: hard boiled some eggs and while they were coming to a boil i prepped my grapes and strawberries. My week goes so much better when I have easy to grab-and-go healthy snacks ready.

Okay, getting back into the swing of things after my major schedule disruption...

Last week before leaving town, I bought a few new work tops since the ones I have now (5X) are getting looser. I normally wear my tops loose and flowy, but at some point these will be "sloppy loose." So I figured I'd start picking up clearance items in a 4X. I took one to the gym with me yesterday to put on when I dressed for work. Took a 5X, too, just in case I thought the 4X was too tight. Well, the 4X was nowhere near too tight. It was plenty loose. I maybe could have worn a 3X! So I think I'm going to start buying 3X tops on clearance.

I got 30 of my 60 minutes of exercise for the day done this morning(rode my exercise bike).
And Dee I need to check in on those honey combs I haven't ate those since I was a kid...that is a great 100 calorie idea for a sweet snack

My proud moment: I ate Honeycomb cereal for a snack. Sweet and crunchy. Plenty of hand to mouth satisfaction. I used a measuring cup so I had one cup for 100 calories!

My proud moment yesterday came late last night. It was an emotional day at work. And not long before bed I was in the kitchen to get something, and I just had this urge to eat with abandon. I wasn't hungry. I just had this urge to let "the beast" out. LOL. But, I kept it under control. I used a visualization technique to imagine a worst case scenario binge, and how I would feel afterward. After that, I was able to satisfy myself with a single cookie, and I stayed in range for the day.

Yesterday, I did my Firecracker 500 stair goal at the end of a long, hard work day...even though I didn't really want to be bothered. But my wise mind knew that consistency is key, and that the proud feeling of "getting it done anyway" would be nice!

My proud moment: Asked to sample an edamane and corn salad from the deli in my grocery store. Always wanted to try edamane and this way I didn't have to buy a whole package.

Also, I went to visit my mom in her residential care facility and didn't feel like I had to go out to eat afterwards. There are other ways to comfort myself.

My proud moment: Did strength training at the YMCA. Followed by a dip in the pool to cool off. I even did the crawl stroke instead of my usual doggy paddle.

I actually debated between having an apple or a banana for a snack before grocery shopping. Decided on the apple because I was once told that you burn as many calories digesting an apple as there are in an apple. I think bananas have more sugar.

emoticon I amazed myself that "fruit" was a given for a snack. It was just a matter of which one!

I'm not a big veggie person. Don't like a huge variety of them. But I'm proud that I tried something new yesterday - butternut squash. It was okay. Not something I'm ever going to crave, but I gave it a try and I'm proud of myself for that.

I also ate even more than my goal of 5 freggie yesterday. In addition to my fruits, I had a big plate of salad loaded with tomatoes, peppers, and cucumber (with fat free Italian dressing rather than higher calorie ranch dressing).

I was proud this afternoon when I realized at the checkout that almost my entire purchase was made up of fruits and veg! The only non-freggie purchases were eggs, some yogurt, and one package of cookies.

Believe it or not, I've been able to be amazingly moderate with cookies. If I get to the end of the day, have had all my freggies, and have a couple of hundred calories left to make range, I'll enjoy about four cookies if I want. But I can let days and days pass without ever wanting cookies.

2 proud moments today:

Got to the pool for an hour, even though I'm feeling frustrated and discouraged this morning.

Had to run a long errand after the pool and forgot to pack breakfast. So I went through McD's drive through, and bought/ate only a yogurt and fruit parfait, and a low fat milk.

I may be frustrated, but really my only logical alternative is to keep on making good choices as often as possible. Right?

emoticon emoticon My Proud Moment: BBQ for the 4th of July. Made Rice Krispie treats for dessert. Nixed the chocolate chip cookies because I'd eat too many of those. I enjoyed our party very much and still stayed under 2,000 calories.

emoticon My Proud Moment: Ate a low calorie breakfast because I was going out for lunch. I was able to stay under 2,000 calories for the day.

At water aerobics, we do these pool push-ups. At the side of the pool, you lift yourself up out of the water. The instructor said to me "I can see you've improved at doing these."

emoticon emoticon It's great when the weight loss is enough for other people to notice! Way to go Val. Having the swim bag packed and in the car was a good strategy. Two hours is a lot of swimming!!

My proud moment: Made a delicious, low calorie, veggie loaded Zippy Chicken Soup for supper. Also, went down the basement to do a 15 minute workout because I wanted to meet my goal for the Firecracker 500. Once I was down there, I ended up doing 60 minutes of dancing!

It sure was nice, Laura!

I have a super proud moment from later today...Even though I was too tired to get out of bed early enough to swim this morning, I threw my swim gear in the gym bag and took it to work just in case I could motivate myself to swim after work. And I did it! Went straight from work to the pool and swam two hours.
