I am sorry for your loss! I totally understand as I spent the last 3 plus years taking care of my mother and just lost her the end of February! It was so easy to spend all my time taking care of HER and totally disregard MYSELF!!! I gained big time and am working to get if off now. Hello, my name is Susan, I'm 56, live in southwestern PA, and I'm back to spark. I joined in 2007, had slight success, and in the process of taking care of my mom, gained back all that I had lost. I used her illness as an excuse to allow me to swallow my emotions with food and to stop taking care of myself. Well Heaven decided it needed another angel the week before thanksgiving, 2013. And I decided I need to get back to concentrating on me. I have lost 50 lbs since then, and I need support to continue. I have never seriously asked for any help from any of the groups I was in previously, but I am hoping I can help others as they can help support and encourage me.

Great achievement requires great perserverance.

Hi, I'm Jessie.

I am in my mid thirties and have been obese since my mid twenties. I have been married to my husband for almost 14 years now and together we have 4 boys ages ranging from 12 years old to 9 months.

I am new to the team but have been with spark people since 2008. Been off and on due to lack of motivation or pregnancy. Last time I was on I lost 45 pounds then I got pregnant. New to this group. I have been on Spark for awhile, lost some weight slowly, about 45 pounds. I am over 50 years old with another 80-100 pounds to lose. Right now I am stuck. The past year has been challenging. I had my left knee replaced in September, the right replaced 5 weeks later, in October and my wonderful husband died suddenly 6 weeks later, the day before Thanksgiving. I am missing him a lot.

I am physically able to do more exercise than before with my new knees. I can walk for the first time in years. Today I walked more than 10,000 steps. I work out in the water to strengthen my knees and hired a trainer to build strength and endurance.

This team seems like a good place for me.

my first time to post, am trying to increase my walking and hope that with the change in weather I will be able to do that.. so far only get what can be done in the house and what the arthritis will let me do.

Hi all. I've been gone from here for quite a while. I'm back at least through March 17. I don't have internet at home and can only get online when I house sit or go to the library. I need to make going to the library daily a goal when the weather gets better. After all I have to walk there. :) My goal until the weather gets better is to walk the halls in the apartment building right now in the house I'm sitting (after all here I get a cocker spaniel to walk with).

Hello....I am back. I was on SP years ago and lost 60 lbs, not close to what I had to lose. However, since then...I have strayed and fallen off the wagon. I gained all of that 60 lbs back. I am 44, married, 2 grown kids and 1 grand-daughter. We are in MN. I had 3 surgeries on my spine and am feeling lost since then. I have to get my body in control and stop gaining weight. This team was so great in the past, I am happy to found you again.

Hello!! My name is Valerie. I was on spark people a while ago (under a different name) and I loved it, but I dropped off because I needed to do things differently. At the end of last year I decided that I needed to get on here again because I need and enjoy the challenges and the community, it keeps me motivated.

Hi,

My name is Janet, I've decided to try Spark out again after a 2-3 year break. I've gained everything I lost before and then some.

I decided to use the Spark Tracker this time around. It's a lot smaller than my pedometer.

Welcome to the team!! I'm not one for pictures of myself either. So I don't post many of them. I'm usually behind the camera. If it makes you more comfortable, keep your own photo diary for the purpose of before and after, but don't feel like you have to share it here.

Heidi -- I completely understand your switch. I was doing very well until my parents became ill and passed away. I've maintained for the most part, but am just now starting to see a good downward trend after 6 years. Keep plugging away at it. It took some time to put the weight on, it will take some time to get rid of it!

Hi, Heidi! I have that switch installed, too. It sounds silly, but one of the biggest tools I have is to ignore whether or not I want to do something. I have a saying I say to myself, which I picked up from raising a surly teenager: "I don't have to want to do it. I just have to do it."

I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Heidi and I am hoping to restart this journey this year and make some progress. I am currently just over 300 pounds. In 2006, I lost over 100 pounds and was really feeling great. I ended up having to have my neck fused and was not allowed to exercise or do much else for six months. By the time I was allowed to get back to it, all my want to was long gone. In the past eight years I regained that 100 pounds and became very sedentary. I have lost and regained a few pounds here and there, but as of yet, I haven't been able to flip the switch back on. I am hoping I do it this year.

I have what I call an internal switch. If it is on, I will be very focused and be unstoppable. As soon as it flips off, I am done. I can feel the switch between the two, but haven't yet figured out how to turn it on at will. I hope to on this attempt.

I hope to get to know you all in the coming months.

Hi,
My name is Boni and I live in Central Kentucky. My husband and I have a small farm and I also am a Police Dispatcher working midnights for the last 19 years. Sitting all night and sleeping during the day has been as much of a problem the last few years as the weight. My husbands 89 year old mother lives with us and she is wonderful but I am her caregiver and up with her several times a day during my sleep time. I need to lose 100 pounds and praying I will within the next year. I plan to retire at 65. I want to be healthy so I can enjoy moving about on the farm again like I use to. I hope to be an encouragment to all of you and know you will be for me. I hope all of you have a blessed day.

Hello all, my name is Sindia and I am new to SP. I am a 51 yrs old, divorced and live with my 3 cats. I need to lose at least 130 lbs if not more, for my health. Hello again everyone! My name is Stephanie, and I'm on a journey to lose 160 pounds. I have a very long road ahead of me, and I would love to make some new friends so we can encourage each other. I was here a couple of months ago, but I've been struggling a lot, so I've been absent from SP for awhile, trying to wrap my head around getting this weight off and making a true commitment. I'm just joining SparkPeople again after a bit of an absence and I'm using a new account so I don't have any buddies. (yet?) I've set up my profile and I'm enjoying getting back into the site. So, who am I?

I'm 35 years old, married with two teenage stepchildren and 3 spoiled cats. I'm currently a stay at home mom. I live in Western North Carolina. I have over 100 pounds to lose (at least 127, but hopefully a total of 177) and I'm just getting started. I love creative writing (yay nanowrimo is coming up!), digital photography, blogging, and fiber arts.

I'm working out how to eat appropriately. I am an emotional eater and that's my biggest hurdle right now. I'm also getting used to exercising regularly, I'm used to being very sedentary. Lots of time reading, writing, using the computer, watching TV. I want to get out and actually LIVE. I want to be active and healthy. I'm hoping I'm making a good start, and I'm not going to stop until I reach my goals!!

I've been carb cycling for about 4 weeks now and so far so good! I am excited to feel in control and ready to start showing up for myself.

I am back to SP and back to the team. I bailed suddenly when I got too overwhelmed with full-time school, full-time work, and my life stuff. I started using SP to be mean to myself, and I needed a break.

I've graduated from college, finally (yay, me!) and I have my life back. So happy to see my old team again. Can't tell you how much I've missed you. I do notice that there's one fewer team leader than there was last time I was here. Dare I ask?

Anyway, so glad to see familiar people.

I tell people its the best --- may be a little biased!!!

But we have fun working toward some serious goals.

Not to take away from people wanting to lose 25-30 pounds --- but we do have different tasks, goals and struggles.

Hi, I'm Colleen. I'm 47 and have been struggling with obesity and morbid obesity most of my life (since kindergarten). I've been on a slow, but stable losing "streak" for the last nine years (the most successful loss/maintenance streak I've ever had.

I want to get back to regular exercise especially swimming which I love (I'd virtually live in the water if I could).
