Hi there my name is celina, I am a 29 year old who lives in west sacramento with my hubby and 7 year old daughter. I just joined sp yesterday. I have already lost 20 pounds in a month and I plan to lose alot more. I am currently doing the Hcg diet drops along with a VLCD, low- impact cardio and is doing pretty good with it. Hello all... signed back up for SP today after a long absence. I live near Carmichael but spend time (soon to be alot of time) at the 24 hr Fitness in Citrus Heights. So happy that summer is here. My veg garden has already given me some great lettuces and I have tomatoes, cukes, zuccini, eggplant and more growing like crazy. I love eating my own fresh veggies!

Hey all! I'm in Sacramento, kind of between Citrus Heights and North Highlands, and we just recently moved from the Fair Oaks area. I live with my hubby and our "furrbabies" (two cats). My hubby grew up in the North Highlands area, but I've only lived in the area for about 3 years (grew up in Colorado). Hobbies include photography and reading. Favorite workout is probably walking/jogging and biking. Just recently got into races (doing my first half-marathon at the end of the month at the American River Parkway race).

Hi everyone! I'm Anastasia.. I am 25 and I live in Fair Oaks close to the American River. I would love to meet new friends who would like to take riverside hikes or jogs, practice yoga, and maybe attend some fitness classes together. I love to dance, that is my main form of fitness - so even better if you love to dance as well! I started studying Belly Dance six years ago and I continue to dance at least a couple times a week. I have spent some time teaching Belly Dance and I am trying to get small group classes going in the area. I would love to find a good Hip Hop Dance Class in the area to attend, if anyone knows of one please let me know!

Hello all! Midtown is my place of residence and I would love a day time fast walking companion. Weight loss management has been a lifelong battle. In 2001 I had a gastric bypass and lost 220 pounds. Over the last year a new medication pretty much wiped out my thyroid, so I am now resorting to the long haul method to loose the 50 pounds I gained this year.

I am not new to Sparkpeople, but was hoping to meet people closer to home (Sacramento) that participate in walks and or walk/jogs ( I am retraining myself from square one). I lost a bunch of weight, unfortunately I let stress take over and gained a greater portion back. I love the feeling exercise gives me, but it is so much more motivating with friends. I hope to get to know some of you.

Well, Sacramento Sparkies! How is everyone doing these days? I haven't been doing much exercise lately and I am eating way too much! I have cut way down on my smoking but that has increased my food intake by a whole lot! Can't have everything, right?!

Hello, CHICKINTHEHAT! I wish I could attend those classes! I did find a not smoking team here and it is called "classy quitters". I really like it and there are a lot of people still struggling with smoking, and others that have quit. I am still struggling:(

I'm not new, but I need to spend more time on the forums to get to know people. I've lived in Sacramento since I was five...I'm in Tahoe Park (near the UCD Med Center). I lost a lot of weight in 2003-4, I've managed to keep most of it off since then. It started to creep back in the last year and a half. I took it back off, now I'm trying to get to my original goal while I have some momentum. :)
I started with calorie counting and walking for weight loss, I am still counting calories but I am an avid cyclist, inside and outside. I graduated to teaching spin and X-bike a couple years ago. If anyone is a member at CalFit, I teach at Howe, Carmichael Arden and Laguna. I also teach cycle @ Signature Athletic Club in Carmichael. Come play! Otherwise I'll see ya on the bike trail. :D

You're welcome. Of course, I can only tell you what is working for me and everyone has to find their own motivation and method. There are a lot of good ideas in the smoking cessation team on here. At least there are in the one I found, but I'm sure there are others as well. I wish you the best of luck going forward.

AFMOMJAS, thank you for your reply. I tried not buying any, and I felt almost panicy, so I tried buying some and keeping them in the car. That didn't work either. If I don't have any, I panic,and if I do, I smoke them. I am hoping that once I get an appointment for a biopsy, that I will feel re-motivated to quit again. I don't want to have to tell them that I still smoke!

SNUZSUZ so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I smoked for most of the last 20 or so years. I just decided that because of my age and increase in health risks, it was time to stop. I had planned to stop at 35 years old, but it took me until almost 38 to actually do it. The thing that makes it easiest for me is that I refuse to buy any and I don't have anyone around me that smokes right now, so I don't have the chance to have just a few puffs or just one cigarette. I used the patch for a while at first and that helped, too, at least mentally. It really has been easier than I thought it would be. I wish you the best of luck, and if I can help in any way let me know.

AFMOMJAS, I quit smoking for about a day, then just had a few puffs, then 2 whole cigs, and now I am right back at a pack a day. How did you do it? I absolutely have to quit! I was just diagnosed with lung cancer aobut 4 days ago--and I'm still smoking!! Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi, I'm Michelle.
I was born and raised in Sacramento. I currently live in Carmichael area of town and am a 20-year-old student at American River College. Its nice that there is a group for people in our area.
I have so many reasons for wanting to lose weight. The biggest is wanting to become a police officer and be confident in joining in on youthful, singles, activities. I am at 13 pounds lost with 60 more to go.
I work out at California Family Fitness. I work with weights 3 days a week, cardio at least 3 days a week, and I am trying new activities like Zumba.

My name is Mary and I live in Rancho Cordova currently. I have lived in Sacramento all of my life. I have lost 60lbs in the past with Weight Watchers but lately it has slowly started creeping back. I still have 100+ lbs to lose so I'm going to try sparkpeople as a better option. I prefer the method of tracking my actual calories and nutrients vs. "points" I currently work with children but I am interested in health care and am taking anatomy and physiology this fall at Folsom Lake College. Hi all, I've lived in Sacramento for over 20 years and love the city, county and metro-area. A friend of mine from church kept bugging me to join Spark People so we could be buddies. So in 2008 I joined to help encourage her and try to get more focused on developing a healthier lifestyle since I was retiring and would hopefully have more time to focus on 'me'.
I've got over 100+ pounds to loose, and have had many successes and many failures since joining -but it's all been good because I keep getting new insights on my silly mind and all its strengths and weakness that have brought me to where I am today.

Hi! I started my journey officially in January of this year. I say officially because I had started and stopped diets numerous times over the last 10 years without much success, certainly none lasting. I started at 275 lbs and am now 214 lbs! I joined a gym and set several goals. Over the year I have run two 5ks, and two 10ks, the last one on Thanksgiving. I love doing the races but am sticking to the 5ks for now-they're way more fun. I am a member at CalFit and work with a trainer now. I realized that I am now one of those people that loves to workout and am NEVER going back! Anybody else like to race?

I belong to Cal Fit & try to do water aerobics at least 4 days a week, & Tai Chi 3 days. I have a bad back so most exercise doesn't work for me. I like to walk too!

I've lived in Sacramento for 11 years. I moved here from Las Vegas. I have REALLY bad arthritis and need to lose weight so I can have a knee replacement.
I'm trying to qualify for bariatric surgery as my knee surgeon won't replace my knee until I have it. My eating problem is quantity not quality so I need to focus on eating filling foods to prevent me from snacking too much or overeating.

I'm new to the spark Sacramento team. I just moved into the area and I'm hoping to start new. I have a goal of losing 50 lbs to get me back into a normal weight zone. Nothing more than lazy habits, terrible eating, and birth control with side effects of weight gain have gotten me into this position. My energy level is generally fairly low. I was doing a lot of sleeping there for a while - another side effect of the birth control (no longer on it! yay!). Beyond looking healthy, I want to feel healthy. Also, I read an article that people with a normal weight earn more. Yet another motivating factor. Heading to the market for some fresh produce with the hubs.
