I gained 50 lbs with my twin pregnancy. Within 3 weeks I had lost 33 of those pounds and was pretty proud of myself. Yet over the past 3 months, I have managed to put 10 of those pounds back on :(. I have come up with many excuses, but the truth is my eating is out of control! I'm hoping to get some motivation, accountability, and support through this forum.

Kathy, so did I! For the second time no less. 6 months postpartum with my first I was down 20 lbs (only half what I had gained)... My second is 2 weeks old and at 9 days I was down 26 lbs... So yay! Not waiting 6 months this time before I get back to being healthy!

my 1st pregnancy I lost 30 pounds in 3 months I had only gained 30 but I was overweight before I became pregnant. I lost 50 pounds total before becomming pregnant for the 2nd time. I will let you ladies know how that turns out after I deliver obviously and have time to lose it.

I can't believe I am down over 70 pounds since last year!

I immediately lost half of what I gained during my pregnancy. But I had a tough delivery and used that as excuse to not be as active. The weight quickly came back on and I ended up gaining 10 more lbs. I am now trying very hard to lose it.

Remember that all women are different. Some are able to shed the weight easily, and others are not. Just try your best!

ETA: My sister lost all her weight gain (25 lbs) after 3 weeks. BFing does burn a lot of calories! However, her body isn't exactly the same and she does have a bit of a belly still. Remember to keep your calorie intake up to provide your child with the best nutrients and to also drink plenty of water!

I did exactly what I swore I would never do, and used pregnancy as an excuse not to exercise and to eat whatever I wanted. Bad bad bad. I gained 55 pounds. I did have water retention issues, but still, I gained way too much. I went into the hospital at 195. After delivery, I was at 175. Over the next week at home I lost another 10. Then I got stuck between 160 and 165. Then I started gaining again! Yikes! So, I'm trying to get on track now. FYI I am breastfeeding, but lack supply, so supplementing

I lost 10 lbs first trimester, so total weight gain during pregnancy was 40. I only lost about 10 on delivery because of water retention. I lost the true 30 I gained by the time my son was 1 month old. I'm down another 15 so I'm under the lowest I've been in 3 years!

I started my pregnancy at 150 and gained 46lbs. Went into the hospital at 196. A month later I was at 165 and I've been stuck there since. :) So I lost 30lb very quickly. Just FYI...I only breast fed for a month, then had to stop due to lack of supply. Dunno if that's why the weight loss stopped too...but could be!

My daughter Hannah was born 09/12/2009. I gained 25lbs during my pregnancy which was literally the EXACT amount the doctor said was permissable (I was going to use every allowable pound I could!). Pre-pregnancy--I was 160 (my highest weight ever!). On delivery day, I was 185. When I came home from the hospital--I was 177, most of which was water retention. I got down to 162 after a month...and then started being naughty and gained a few--leaving me @ 168. I'm currently using weight watchers to track my weight (and sparkpeople for inspiration) & have now lost 25lbs total (143)--Ultimate goal is 127--still another 16lbs to go, but more than halfway there! emoticon

I gained 13 pounds during my pregnancy and had lost it all by the time my son was 1 week old. He is now almost four months old, and I've lost an additional 18 pounds. (I weighed 199 when I got pregnant, got up to 212, and now I'm at 181). I eat pretty well and exercise almost every day. I try to do fun things, though, like gardening, basketball, walking with other moms from the neighborhood, swimming, and an occasional spin class. And I'm breastfeeding exclusively, which I think has played a huge role in my weight loss. Good luck!

I lost 78 pounds with SparkPeople and I've gained most of it back because I didn't make a PERMANENT lifestyle change; I'm back because I know the support here is an essential component to success. I'm practicing the EAT TO LIVE lifestyle and feeling healthier and happier every single day.

I had my son 2 weeks ago. I gained 55 lbs during my pregnancy. i went to the hospital at 277 lbs & came home (5 days later) at 267 lbs. today i am at 238, which is 39 lbs lost. now i have to mention that i retained a LOT of water. i swear, it looked like i had Shrek's feet!
but hey, only 16 more lbs to go! I'm pumping milk for my little guy since he can't latch to breastfeed. :'( but still! breast milk is breast milk & uses about 20 calories per ounce to make. :)

I gained right at 40 lbs during my pregnancy. I lost a lot of weight really fast, about 25 pounds by the end of the 3rd week. I was also breastfeeding (still am), and I think that helped it to fall off so quickly at the beginning. I lost another 5 lbs within another month, and have been struggling with the last 10 lbs for the rest of the past year. I think my body is hanging onto some weight while I'm still nursing.

I gained 42lbs and lost 19lbs by my 6 week check-up. I'm BF and really didn't lose any weight because of it. My little one is 7 months today and I'm starting to really get down to business and wean her so maybe I'm one of those mothers who need to stop BF to lose weight. I've been working out and eating healthy for almost 6 months and I've only lost about 10 more pounds depending on the week.

I started by gaining 36 lbs during my first pregnancy and within two months had lost 25 lbs. I was breastfeeding and eating nutritional foods, both for me and my son. Then oops, I was pregnant again with three months, this time gaining over 60 lbs. I have lost 38 lbs but I really decided that I am ready to change several things in my life and I have started and not looked back yet. I quit smoking, drinking sodas, biting my nails and I am exercising every day at least 40 minutes with the P90X Program. I am already feeling so much better!

I gained 29lbs total and in three weeks I lost 22lbs but then two weeks after that I gained 3lbs. The water weight fluctuations can go on for 6-8 weeks after delivery. You will still be swollen. I was surprised, I had no swelling the entire pregnancy but after I delivered my feel and ankles got really puffy!

I was retaining a LOT of water and lost 33 pounds in about 3 weeks too.

I have to add that it was WONDERFUL to see my "real" feet again!

I weighed 296 a day before delivery. I didn't weigh myself for 2 months after that. At 2 months after I had lost 22lbs. I breastfed as well. Then I gained half of it back! What a goof I am! Working on going the other direction now, almost 2 years later, better late than never I guess. Lol.

The day before I had my daughter I was 233lbs and 3 weeks later I was 197lbs. I lost roughly 12lbs a week for 3 weeks and by week 4 I was down to 190lbs.

Just wondering what is typical and how much I might expect to lose in the first couple of weeks. I will be breastfeeding and I know that makes a difference. What was your experience like?
