I just signed up for the Outer Banks Marathon (November 8, 2009) earlier today, and have decided to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham.

I usually do my Saturday long runs on the American Tobacco Trail, starting at Southpoint Crossing Shopping Center, or at Shelley Lake.

I also love doing shorter road races as training permits. I did the Run for the Oaks last Saturday in the rain!

Let me know if you're interested in running together. I often do a combination of running and walking.

I'm working (back) up to a 5K in April (see the thread about Angels Among Us). I run 3x a week and walk on other days. I'm up to about 2 miles in 25 minutes this week. Next week I'll run for 30 minutes, but probably a little slower.

I don't know where in Durham you are, but I sometimes run around the wall at Duke East Campus. Where do you run?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. You could run 5K if you just put your mind to it. It would be a very slow pace but you could do it. When you see me I don't look like your average marathon runner, lean and fit. I run at my pace and I just keep it moving. When I get tired, I slow it down to almost a walk. I believe you could do it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond back. I am slow as a snail. My goal is to just finish the race and make it to the finish line. I will always have on my mind as I am running, all those people who are battling blood cancer, that will be my motivation to make it to the finish line. I couldn't possibly keep up with you, since I'm slower than a snail and haven't ever run more than 5K. But I know there are lots of runners in Durham - hopefully someone on our team needs a running buddy, too!
