Hello... so i've decided to join a few teams. What they hey? Been losing with SP more consistently than past tries so there's gotta be something good here, right?

We had a cooler than usual summer here in Northern California this year -- until the State Fair Started.
Then, the standard hot August days hit. It's not really all that bad but you can be sure a lot more people would go to the fair if the weather was cooler. Today was reasonable. It doesn't really heat up around here until about one or two in the Afternoon.
A big "feature" of our fair is all the deep fried foods. Deep Fried Twinkies are available to go with the Deep Fried Coke! Of course the Corn Dogs are much healthier emoticon

The fair is too loud for me! I love peace and quiet. I'd rather be up in the mountains clearing brush or trimming trees.

Statistics frightened me until I found fancy hand held calculators. Now, they seem interesting, but then I like most imaginative extrapolation.
However, one reason I never went for a PhD was that it seemed to me the stats were 'more and more about less and less'; no room for gereralist. I admire anyone who can coach the feils.
Best wishes; keep posting. teachermattie

Actually I was a Statistics and Research Design coach at a nearby college. Once I convinced the students that they were the players and I was the coach, not just a teacher, they did a lot better. Some even came to LOVE Statistics!

Hi Coach,
Welcome, you were a football coach I am guessing. My dad played college ball at Sul Ross in Alpine until he met my mom while on a trip and dropped out to get married. (I think he often regretted it). He taught me a bit about the game and I love to watch it, but regret the TV focus on the ball so much you miss half the play. However, I now live in Canada and it is run, pass, kick mostly and not as interesting. I sometimes watch the games of a young friend who has great potential in the game. He is only 13 but has natural talent.

Greetings from Sacramento California the home of the Golden Bear (A State Fair symbol getting a lot of attention now through Labor Day.) Of course, some of us know Sacramento as the "Big Tomato" - we used to have a canning factory here.

I'm about to turn over to the big Seven-Oh and I seem to be going through another one of those later life crises again. Re-evaluating a lot of stuff.

One thing has been my weight. I'm not obese but I am too heavy. There are a lotta things I still want to do before I die or become infirm. That's my motivation for signing up with Spark People

I met some folks this last Winter who subscribe to "Geezer Jock." It kinda shocked me. Now I'm imitating them! -- at a lower level of course.

I AM feeling pretty good.
