Hi! While i am not officially a silver sneaker member like my husband is, i go to a studio several times a week. they teach pilates, weights, ball, yoga and several other things such as working with bands. it is getting me loosened up and the doctor said my cholesterol has gone way down along with my blood pressure. At the studio you have a trainer for each class and the classes are small so you get immediate attention if you are doing something wrong! As for me, i turned 70 this year and am keeping really busy most of the time. I have about 30-40 lbs. ahead of me to lose and i can hardly wait! I am even scared of the super bowl party this weekend because it is the first week and i do not want to gain!
Sorry to hear about your Silver Sneakers leader's illness, and the program ending. Walking is very good, keep it up! Hope your center can get a new leader for you before too long. At our Y, there are two Silver Sneakers leaders. One does a class on Tuesdays, and the other one leads the Thursday class. I suppose if one couldn't do it, maybe the other one would help out.

To cherish what remains of the Earth and to foster its renewal is our only legitimate hope of survival. ~ Wendell Barry
Silver Sneakers• program has been running well in our Wellness Center for 5 years but now our instructor has cancer and we have shut down. I am walking and trying on my own, which is not going too well. We still have cold weather and snow piles which are melting very slow.
