Welcome, Torpedo! I had a heart attack and a single bypass 19 months ago at the age of 35! The nurses kept telling me that if I was young enough to have shaved my legs, I was WAY too young to be in the Heart Hospital! My attack was due to an arterial dissection caused by pregnancy rather than any genetic or bad health habits, etc., and my surgeon told my husband that he had never seen such a clean heart - so I guess that was good!
Best of luck to you!

Hi, I had open heart surgery five weeks ago. Triple bypass. I'm 57 years old,,,,just a baby according to my surgeons nurse. Probably because most people who have the operation are older. One artery was 100% blocked. The reason I didn't have a heart attack is my body grew a bunch of small veins around the blockage to get blood to the heart. To me that's a miracle. Being that I'm so "young" my recovery should be easier. I was in good shape, though overweight, before; that helps. I'm still having trouble losing weight. My advice is... if you have symptoms of heart problems go directly to the emergency room and have it checked out.

Hi! I'm new from South Africa. Call me Eddie. Had my first heart attack last Sunday at age 51. Found high BP, high cholesterol. Am now trying to stop smoking. Clean since Sunday, but it sure is tough after being pack-a-day man for almost fourty years (started at 12). Glad to find kindred spirits so soon.
