Well being in the medical field you have a leg up on knowing what to do to get where you need to be.
I love SparkPeople. The site has so many tools and articles and challenges to keep you successful on your WL journey. Just take some time to look over the boards and the articles and check out their trackers. The nutrition and fitness trackers are invaluable. Plus they have great exercise videos ranging from just 8 minutes to get you started on exercising.
Baby steps. It takes time to reset your attitude and adjust to changing your lifestyle. Give yourself that and don't be discouraged if the weight loss is slow. Slow and steady will win this race.
I wish you much success as you begin your WL journey. You will find all the support, encouragement and assistance you need. You have only to ask and someone will answer your questions or give you support.
. 'See' you on the boards.
"NOTHING changes if nothing changes" Remember, while looking forward to reaching your destination you need to enjoy the journey.
Welcome - what I like best about SparkPeople - besides the help and support of it's members - is that most of us are here to make lifelong life changes and not just to diet. I wish you well on your journey. Join in the discussions - there are tons of forums and topics to choose from. Don't forget to set up a SparkPage so people can contact you and you can display pics, etc. Don't forget too to set up some goals for yourself - keep them reasonable and easily obtainable so that you don't get discouraged. Once you reach one goal, you can move on to another and so on until you reach your final goal. It is much easier, for eg to achieve a goal to lose 10 lbs. in 6 weeks than to lose 60 lbs. in 3 or 4 months or to have a goal to walk/run for 15 mins a day 3 times a week than I will be in the XYZ Marathon in 2 months.

Hello all, My name is Cary. I am a 50 year old male. I am interested in this forum because I had an abnormal calcium scan a few years ago. This puts me at an increased risk for heart attack. I am asymptomatic thus far. I ran my first marathon last year 2 weeks prior to my 50th birthday, and have not run much since. I have 2 young daughters, 8, and 5. The 5 year old was adopted last year, and has some special needs, so I have not run much, and as a result have gained some weight. I hope Spark People will help me get back on track. I'm a nurse and work in Cardiovascular Surgery, so I see the results of inaction each and every day. Looking forward to lots of good interaction on this page. Thanks for letting me join.
