I am fairly new here and I am seriously confused. I have a cardiac issue that keeps me from exercising most times. When my heart rate elevates I have tremendous chest pain. Yesterday I had an appointment with my cardiologist and tried to talk to him about my 35 pound weight gain last year and guess what he said about it ... NOTHING!! He said "well it isn't your medications" so just eat less". Maybe time for a new cardiologist? He put 2 stents in my heat 2 years and placed the 2nd stent blocking another small artery .. this is what is causing all the pain! And he says just eat less, as if 1200 calories is too much to eat. Suggestions? emoticon

Welcome. I agree with Nancy, don't try to do too much too soon. You'll get overwhelmed and give up and that's the only thing you can do wrong, give up. As long as you keep at it you'll eventually find a plan that works for you. Glad you joined us.

Welcome. I would recommend that you take it slow. Start by making small changes once you've got them mastered add more. It's over whelming when you first start, but you can do it.
Just don't give up. Check out the articles on nutrition and exerscise. Definitely use the food
Tracker it lets you know exactly what you've eaten. Good luck to you your spark friends will be rooting for you.

Thank you! I was a member of Weight Watchers and yo-you'd for a year! I am going to do the best I can do. I spent most of the day just trying to figure out what I'm going to eat. Tomorrow I hope to get some exercise in!

Welcome Peggy! You have come to a great place to get started on your journey! Sounds like you have a great goal - 2 pounds a week! I am starting AGAIN! I am determined to lose some of this weight and keep it off this time. I have about 75 pounds to lose, but right now I'm looking at a smaller goal of 25 pounds. Just know that YOU CAN DO IT!

Hi, my name is Peggy. I have 100+ lbs. to lose. If I can lose 2 lbs a week I will be at my goal in December, 2014. I've tried everything. I am totally committed to this plan. I've never belonged to a Forum and am hopeful this will keep me motivated. My sister has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and I fear I'm heading in the same direction. Glad to be here, and hope to hear from you soon.
