"Heart buy pass" was my first team and why I came to spark People. I went in for a murmur, came out of that and the Doctor's said see you in a week for your open heart. Not a stroke or attack just a camera up my leg.

Thank you for the kind welcomes. I was very happy this morning, I went from blood sugars in the upper 200's to 178. It has been a long time since I saw numbers like that. I have been using the trackers and it is helping me focus on what I put in my mouth. So happy I desided to try SPARKPEOPLE........... Trying to keep my heart healthy!! :)

I loved that book too and I read it to my daughter over and over. Chanting that to myself over the years has helped me over humps. Sometime in my 40s a flu virus attacked my heart. it was unknown until I collapsed at age 50 and we found I had Dilated Cardiomyopathy from it. Not a heart attack but scary non the less. I too am trying to change my lifestyle. I've been working on it for 9 years now and a few months ago came to SparkPeople. The members have been very friendly and supportive. My favorite book was the "The Little Red Train that Could" and it keeps me positive when I feel like I can't make it because that little red train made it up that mountain, we can make it up all of our mountains.

My name is Lori and this past year I had a heart attack, I just turned 49 so yes... next year I will be the big 5-0. I need support and maybe a little shove every now and then to get on the healthy track. I am learning and trying very hard to make a life style change not a diet! I am diabetic and have bad cholesterol numbers both my HDL & LDL. 5 years ago I lost over 100lbs and have kept it off but my eating style went back to not so healthy food.... now I know I have to keep up the health and every time I pick up something I should not put in my mouth I have to remind myself how scared I was during my heart attack. I am trying to be the little engine that could..... because I know I can, I know I can.
