Heart disease & diabetes are in my family. I had an attack before I was 50. I've been on a beta blocker for 13 years and that's when I started gaining the weight.( I quit smoking then too)
I started on Spark in 2009, gained and lost the same 10 lbs over and over. I thought I was SERIOUS then, but I guess - "not so much" . I'm re-thinking my game plan now. I'm going to turn my life around over the next 6 months. I can't just " try" I must instill in myself the habits that I know will make the difference. I'm realizing that I have to work my favorite foods into my plan sometimes, and allow for some weaknesses - because I have them. They aren't going away just because I will them to.
I'm fundraising for AHA again this year. My daughter is doing the walk with me on 10/3.
I walked a 5K 2 weeks ago at 19mph. My goal at this one is 18mph. Then the next one 16 mph. Then, I will work on distance.
Most people are about as happy as they make their minds up to be.
