Hi my name is Terri and I am new to this team and new to Spark People.

I have CAD and had 2 stents placed 5 years ago. I also have chronic Angina. I have 65 pounds to lose and cannot do a lot of exercising but I did joined the YMCA to do aquatic exercising. I've been going 4 - 5 times a week for 3 weeks now and I feel better and have a little more mobility in my right knee that has osteoarthritis.

I hope no one minds that I just invited myself into your conversation.

Hi I am Linda and I have CAD and uncontrolled High Blood Pressure and a weakened Immune system. I have had four heart surgeries and I am here with SP to lose weight to get into the normal weight group and to get healthy so I can stay around for my grandchildren. And I can honestly say, so far it is working for me!

Hi, my name is Cher...short for Cherie. I don't have heart problems yet but my cholesterol is 295. I am trying to work on lowering my cholesterol. I walk with a walker, a walking stick once in a while, and stopped using my riding cart except when I really need it. I have balance issues and fall alot. I fell out of the shower on my back about a week ago. I landed on a hepa filter and a stool and am still carrying large bruises on my back and buttocks. I walk on a treadmill that has arms I can hold onto when I walk. I am trying for 10,000 steps a day.

Hi my name is Joyce, I do not have any major heart problems (except a leaking valve).I did have a minor heart attack in 1993, due to stress. Heart disease is the main killer of family members, then cancer. I want to stay healthy live a long life and enjoy it without too many health problems. Hoping this team will help me keep that goal.

HI!! my name is RITA and I had CHF & COPD they both can be beaten. 2 things you must commit to no more SALT give away the salt in the box empty the shaker's and replace it with MRS. DASH it comes in multiple flavors take your pick. READ, READ THOSE LABELS 1500 MGS OF SODIUM'S FOR ALL DAY OR LESS IF THE DOCTOR SAYS SO. START AND EAT NATURAL FOOD'S, PROCESSED FOOD'S ARE LOADED WITH SALT!!!!!!!! I filled 4 grocery bag's filled with thing's I could not eat. Soda, chip's, cookie's, candy, cracker's, all pastry too much salt and too much sugar (I'm a Diabetic also).Then I started on the frozen meals I had in the Frig. I loved the vegetables with shrimp or beef meals. I thought I'd never make it but, my friend's rallied around me and gave me the strength to get through !! I found that after a couple of weeks the craving went away and I felt better than I had in a long time!!

I've been on SP for four years, lost 50 lbs, and now, thanks to some HUGE life events, gained most of it back! I recently turned 50 and am on meds for HBP and CHF. Yay, me.

I don't know if this will help but, green's are high in magnesium and potassium, excessive amounts can interfere with normal beating of the heart. Check with your Doctor I could be wrong!!! emoticon

I do not have a pace make, but i do have Cariac Arterial Disease and it does get me down whent he symptoms flair up. But I tell myself I can do more active things when I am symptom free. I talked to my cardiologist and my pulmonolgist as well as my primary physician and my orthopedic dr. to find out what exercises I can do. I feel I can accomplish a lot on my goods days and that makes up for the bad days.

Does anyone have a pacemaker and what kind of exercise besides walking do you do.

I am 38 and I have CHF with arthymias. The doctors have tried to fix one part hoping to help the other. They found where the extra beats are coming from but it was to much of a risk to fix. Now they want to check my valves and go from there. If they don't find anything there I guess they will be checking for pulmonary hypertension next. Having a real hard time eating right cause it seems like the better foods I eat the more medicine I have to take. I try to eat greens but it just messes with my medicine to much. Can someone give me some advice?

I am new to this forum, and relatively new to Spark People. My name is Barb and I have Afib and a pacemaker/defib . I am at least 85 from my goal. I love seeing new recipe ideas and really need to get motivated in the exercise department. Trying to drink more water, and can see the difference it makes.

Dropping in to check and see how things are going and what paths you've decided to walk since you joined up.
Reading your post I see you started off great by eliminating the sugar(thats one of the first ingredients I added to my mix too) Its amazing what a difference it makes,right?? I felt like a whole other person and dropped lbs almost instantly. (I'm a person who @ one time needed 3 tsps of sugar in her morning cup of java or afternoon tea) A real Sweetaholic!!
If I can get to your page I'll check out any blogs I may have missed to catch up on your journey.

hi ginny, I too have to lose 95 pounds and there is nothing more then wanting to be healthy on my mine these days. I brought up 4 boys and they have familys of their own and now its time for me. I have had plenty of stress in my life and this is part of the reason I have gained so much weight. I became an over eater. since jan 1, the day I retired from a very stressful job I decided to work on me. I started by leaving sugar out of my diet as much as I have control over. I read labels now and am aware of what things have and dont have it takes some time but I know soon I will know what I can buy and what I shouldn't buy. I also read a lot of the things on here and take quizzes. the bad thing is I have tried losing weight most of my life, since my first child was born in 1970. I know a great deal about what I should be doing and what not to do but I have always fallen back to old habits. not this time I am determined to do this. lets do this together. god luck on your venture and congratulations on taking over as coach.

I've been an up and down dieter and and lost nd gained enough weight dfor a whole nother person. Even now I need to lose 90 lbs but this time...this time I'm doing it right. I'm reading and studying, researching and looking back at the end of the day to see my mistakes and get ideas as to what I could do better tomorrow. I have a BMI of 48 and I want to be healthy. I don't want to die and I don't want to just lose weight. I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!! That's why I love this group!! God bless it!

Hi...I too was a SP member for a long time. I deactivated my account awhile back as life just seemed to get in the way. I realized that I missed the comraderie of my SP friends, so have rejoined. I need to lose 40 pounds to get where I am supposed to be and I know that I can do it with the help of friends. I used to belong to this team and missed it too, so I am back and ready to do the things that I need to keep this old heart strong and healthy!

Hi, My name is Melody and I have been a 'Sparker' for some time now but for a good while I have not done anything with it. When I first started I had lost 50 lbs., I have since put about 15 or so back on and I don't like the direction I'm headed. It's been 17 months since I had 3 stents placed via a cardiac catheterization and I started out real good with exercising and eating but have lapsed back into my bad, old habits. I got a job last November and have used that as my excuse for not exercising because I have to stand all day or night depending what hours I work and when I get home I'm tired. Getting my water quota in can be difficult but doable. Eating right? Well, that's just plain my fault, ugh! Didn't mean to go off like that but guess I needed to vent, now I need to get up off my duff and do something about it. That is why I chose to join this team, I need lots of encouragement and pushers. Hope to find it here. Thanks, Melody

Just a day at a time. If you go anywhere or run an errand, always take a snack with you -- like an apple, banana, or a bag of cheerios. Also - every Stop N Go type place sells an individual banana. Best of luck!!
