Well Friends...I go to the doc when needed and even kept up on my yearly blood tests but still had a heart attack at 39 yrs old. Just some advice from me...take note when your blood work comes back not so good. Don't take a little bit of high cholesterol etc. etc. and blow it off. Take note & do something about it NOW before it's too late. Check out how your insurance works and get the necessary tests done no matter where you decide to go whether it be cardiologist or GP. Your life is worth it.

I agree, if you know of a good cardiologist start there if you can.
Many insurances today cover or give discounts for: a registered dietician who can jump start you on a solid heart healthy diet and also fitness centers who have qualified trainers to get you going in the right direction.
Also there are many health insurances today who offer wellness programs for chronic conditions.
You need to see you GP. Have them give you at least a 'yearly physical' (including fasting blood tests, which is not a big deal but you want to know the results!). If things indicate it or if your family has a lot of heart problems, they may refer you to a cardiologist.
It's worth it! Good luck and welcome.
my SparkPage is friends-only because I'm paranoid and too boring anyway

Go to a heart doctor first of all for a true test. You know the answer(s) to lowing your heart age: diet, lose weight, lower cholesterol, stop smoking if you do, exercise--we have all been hearing that for years but we don't listen until we get scared and none of the above are easy to do. Because I had great success with them I usually suggest Weight Watchers for losing weight, lowering cholesterol as a start.
