Hello and Welcome! I'm Erin, I recently turned thirty. Why am I in this group? I've had two mitral valve replacements and an aortic valve repair. I've been in atrial fib. and had to have a cardioversion, My last surgery was 3 years ago last month, and I'm doing much better! Good luck with all of your goals! Hello,
My 52 yo husband has just been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. We have no idea where to start as far as a good diet for a healthy heart. We were told low fat, low sodium and low carb, but as I search for one for him they seem to be contrary to each other! How do I know which one to use? Any help/suggestions appreciated.

I am 64 and weigh 171.5 pounds. My goal weight is between 145-165; I'll decide as I go. I joined SP at the recommendation of my doctor. If I reach my goal weight, doc says I can avoid diabetes. I hope he s right. I have other health issues unrelated to weight, except that I take steroids and other meds which make me hungry and create a midriff "pouch," which I am trying to avoid. I have lost 17 pounds in the past year; I exercise regularly (mostly walking). I am on the verge of completely retiring from work but who knows. My interests are varied; foremost being motorcycling, second is reading, third are movies.
