I have a stationary bike and if I can't get myself out the door for a walk I jump on that. Sometimes I just think I'll do 5 or 10 minutes just to DO something but I always end up doing more. Then I lift a few weights or whatever. I worked at a desk for 23 years and you just have to get up out of the chair frequently and stretch, touch your toes, do neckrolls whatever. I always tried to walk at my lunch hour. Where there's a will there's a way. Good luck to you!!

Limited space. Get some bands, a jump rope, dumbbells. Go out and walk/hike. Start short and slow. It will build. Take a voice recorder with you to record thought and ideas for your writing (like I'm so sure THAT's a new idea you never heard before).
I know you can lose the 50lbs you want.

Hi I just joined today and I'm counting on all of your expertise to help me shed 50 lbs by next year. Is it really doable? As a writer I sit for over 8 hours every day almost 300 days a year. I live 6 months of the year in our 25 foot trailer in a gold mining camp near Columbia where I wrote my novel Without Consent by Virginia R. Degner. I love this mountain area and fell in love with the historic gold rush town of Columbia Ca where I set my mystery/ romance. I try to walk daily about 2 miles but when I'm in the middle of a book or as I am right now the screen play of Without Consent I find myself tied to my computer and then it's time for dinner and I get distracted. I live the other six months from October through till April in Castro Valley where I plunge into my winter activities such as the getting ready for the holidays and attend weekly Rotary luncheons. It's a nice life and I appreciate it, however, it's pretty sedentary. What can I do to be more active? I am 3/4 vegetarian out of health necessity since I have to limit my protein to around 25mg per day because of a kidney problem. I never want to go on dialysis and so far by limiting my protein I am able to stay in a "normal" range with my blood tests. So this is who I am. I look forward to getting your replies to my message. Sincerely, Virginia R. Degner
Winston Churchill said "Never, never, never, give up". That's the quote I used to inspire me to complete my novel Without Consent by Virginia R. Degner I hope the same message will help me lose 50 lbs.
