Do you keep track of your sodium? You can do that on the nutrition tracker. I don't have high blood pressure but if I eat too much salt, my ankles and fingers swell up & gain weight.
You probably know this already, the RDA for sodium for healthy people has been lowered to 2300 mg per day, about 1 teaspoon. For people with health issues, it's even lower - 1500 mg per day.
On the nutrition tracker, click on Change Nutrition Goals at the bottom of the page. Then search for sodium. You can enter the range you want to be in and save it. Then, whenever you enter food in your tracker, your sodium intake will show up at the bottom of the screen with the other nutrients.

Hello everyone. First, let me just say that although I do not have any heart issues, thank the good Lord above, my Daddy did. He passed away from a massive heart attack in March of 2010. Soooooo, I am here to learn and hopefully prevent any possible issues. I do have high blood pressure, but have it under control with medication. I have to be very careful anout medications though too, as I donated a kidney 2 years ago.
My biggest concern is the blood pressure and I would love to find other ways of controlling it without additional medications. I started sparkpeople, to get down to 130 lbs again and to be aware of what I am putting into my body to teach myself to subconsciously make better choices for eating as well as consciously.
