Hi all~ my name is Chris, and I joined Spark about a week ago. I have been kinda wandering around the site since then, wide eyed, a little lost and overwhelmed by all the information, and today, decided to truly become part of the community. Have room for one more newbie? :)
Over and over, by reading the blogs and success stories, I am struck by how often people credit the support and community of spark for helping them reach their goals, how positive people are, and most of all, I am struck by the AMAZING stories of change! I want to be one of those stories!
My quick background-
35 yrs old, have been naturally thin my whole life, but the last few years have seen a steady increase of weight, mostly around my middle. After a doctor visit last month, I got a nasty wake up call- my cholesterol is high, my BP is boarder line or pre-hypertension, and my hormones are making me crazy, sluggish and moody. My doctor, very kindly, told me to get off my ass and exercise and quit eating junk- I have a bad family history with this stuff, but she doesn't want to put me on pills yet, and is giving me 6 months to fix it myself. So here I am.
I have about 10-15 lbs to lose, like I said, not a lot, but I can be lazy at times, and have a hard time believing I can make lasting change. That is probably the biggest hang up- I feel like I can play this for a month or two, and will then revert back to my old ways. I need accountability and motivation when my internal motivation gives up and starts screaming for a chocolate chip cookie.
Anyway, looking forward to meeting everyone!
