Okay. So I have aortic stenosis and what the doctor referred to as kissing valve. She said the second issue could be treated with an angioplasty type technique where they use a drop of alcohol to burn off the bit of muscle causing the problem. The stenosis - well, I'll have to have a valve replacement. I'm on Diovan, low-dose ASA and my usual pack of anti-depressants.
Will keep pushing for more information! and thank you!

I agree with laserdude. You need to know more about your heart condition and the names of any meds he might have put you on. Ask him to draw a picture for you. Also google every new word that he uses to describe what's going on. Knowledge is power. You need to be your own advocate and the more you know the better you'll be able to know what to do to help your situation.

I did lose 2 lbs in 2 weeks so I guess that's good even if it wasn't aerobic.I hope it continues. I'm giving myself a year to lose 50 lbs.

You should have another conversation with your dr. Do not leave until you understand completely what ails you. When the light of day gets into a dark corner its not so scary anymore. Knowledge will ease your apprehensions. Good luck!

Thank you both for you support. I haven't had anyone with similiar experience to talk to. I've gone up and down with this and I suffer from clinical depression as it is. What a rollercoaster ride it's been. But my husband insists that we are going to grow old together and drive our grandchildren crazy.

The heart is a sensitive organ for people to deal with. I know. I had Legionnaires that almost wiped me out and 3 yrs later I had a heart attack. Although I was depressed and angry after Legionnaires it was nothing like the depression after my heart attack. I guess because the heart is after all the organ that needs to keep on beating. But after you go through all the emotional stages, fear, anger, depression etc you get yourself up and decide that it's time to take control and improve your health. There are now terrific cardiac meds that improve cardiac functioning, breaking up plaque and clots etc and you can certainly eat without a lot of saturated fats in your diet. Cheer up this too will pass. Just concentrate on what is in your control; your diet. That will go a long way to putting less physical stress on your heart.

Hi - I'm new to this team. I recently found out I have 2 heart issues that need to be corrected and I'm scared silly. I have aortic stenosis and I don't know the name of the other thing. One is a problem with the blood going into my heart, and the other is the blood leaving the heart.

It doesn't help that I need to lose 90+ pounds. But I have a supportive family, and somehow I'll make it through this - won't I?
