MY BEST ADVICE IS TO SPEAK TO YOUR DR. SOMETIMES THE DR. WILL SEND YOU TO A CARDIAC EXERCISE CLASS(AT A SITE WHERE THEY CAN MONITOR YOU/YOUR HEART RATE)IN ORDER TO ALLOW YOU TO DO SOME KIND OF EXERCISE EVEN AEROBICS. I WISH YOU THE BEST BUT REMEMBER KEEP TAKING THOSE LEISURE WALKS BECAUSE YOUR STILL MOVING.
Hi I'm new to this website. I had a heart attack in 2003 with a stent placement. I'm 60 yrs old and overweight by 50 lbs. I've pretty much been watching what I eat but obviously my portions are bigger than my energy output. I have a problem with exercising because other than walking, I find I get short of breath when I do aerobic exercises. It's my understanding that my meds keep my pulse and blood pressure in check so I assume that some of that shortness of breath is because my pulse should not go higher than a certain point? If that's the case, how am I going to lose weight by taking a leisurely walk for 30 min a day as opposed to an aerobic one? Does this mean I have to severely cut my calories less than 1500 a day? Just wondering if anyone has the answer to that. I'll never be a marathon runner.
I did lose 2 lbs in 2 weeks so I guess that's good even if it wasn't aerobic.I hope it continues. I'm giving myself a year to lose 50 lbs.
