I'm on Plavix 10mg and Caudet 75mg and a dose of aspirin. My doctor first told me I would have to be on Plavix the rest of my life. I'm not one that enjoys taking medicine or even believes in medicine. When he said that I pitched a fit. He then said 2 yrs and I still wasn't happy so he told me to give him atleast 1 yr on the med's and then we'll go from there. I haven't had any troubles with taking them. I did have a day or two where I was having dizziness but it wasn't that often and its been a while. One of the med's for side effects it says weight loss then another one says weight gain...I just hope to maintain at this point!! LOL I haven't gained anything since starting them and I've actually ahve lost a pound or two...so we'll see. I dont have much to lose just tone up and I would be much happier.

Sounds like you've been through the ringer with your meds:( No wonder we have phobias! Heart disease runs in my family so when I told the nurse about this odd pain in my chest, she thought we should look. And I had an artery 90% in one spot and 40 in another. I was lucky, I didn't have a heart attack and they found it soon enough. It's scary to have to wonder about what caused what and your meds etc. All you can do now is just do your best, eat well, move as much as you can and keep your chin up. Sometimes, that's the hardest part. We just keep on keeping on, right? Best of luck and good health to you!

I'm not really sure.. I think its the norvasc but he has me on that for the angina...I also have to take alburtrol with the toprol cause it gives me asmtha.. had it some before because of acid reflex but the meds really give it too me now.

I had a alergic reation to lisinipril?? so can't take that... I've told him how it makes me.. but I've kinda had trouble with meds and reactions... I was taking celebrex for 3 years before the heart attack and after I took it for 2 more months and started having trouble with my kidney's he took me off of it and I've been ok since... (he says no but I wondered if the celebrex could have caused my heart attack???) But I've also wondered if he'd say that anyway cause they give out all those free samples of it too. It was after I started taking in in 2003 that my blood pressure started going up.

UMMMM So many questions! LOL
I really wish my doctor would have recommended rehab for me... I really think it would have helped I just wasn't aware... no one's had problems with there heart in my family ever.

I carry Nitro with me also. I've never taken one yet. A few times I thought I would but I was taking all my meds on an empty stomach and it wasn't my heart but heartburn that time. Which med is it that makes you dizzy? Can your doc find an adequate substitute? I would hate that feeling.

I took plavix also after my heart attack but was able too get off of it after 6 months. I hear you about a phobia on meds!! LOL emoticon

Thats what I was wondering is how long the sleepy dizzy feelings will last... its been two years for me.. I've told my doctor and his comment was the need out weights the side effects in my case. I also take the aspirin and am suppose to carry nitroglisern with me at all times.. I'm pretty good about it but there are times... I've never had to take it though.

I take Plavix, Diovan, Hydrocholorthyazide, Atenol, Lipitor, and baby aspirin for my heart, Levoxyl for my thyroid. How much of each, I'd have to go dig them out and I'm being really lazy atm:P I used to have a medicine phobia, but with all this, I had to get over it real fast. I was on a blood pressure med once that made me so tired I could barely walk, but this one is fine, no side-affects. I'm doing well on all these so far.

Thats my problem too...

I was wondering what and how much meds others are taking...

I'm on 100mg of toprol
10mg of norvasc
40mg of benicar
10/80 vytorin

They had me on 200 mg of toprol but reduced it about a year ago and I've done better... but my meds make me sleepy at times.. never know and I get dizzy at odd times too... if I'm tired and take them I can also get disorentied.

do you guys have any of these problems too??

I always assumed that my slow weight loss was partially attributed to the beta blockers and meds I take. It makes it twice as hard to drop the pounds. GRRRR

But I just keep exercising and trying. Slowly but surely, I hope to get the pounds off.

If you are on beta-blockers and all that stuff we take now, my rehab nurses told me they make losing weight harder than before. Mine has been pretty slow, but it's eventually going to get there. Keep up the good work:)

I had triple bypass open heart surgery on August 24. Did two months of rehab. They got me up to 2.8 mph on the treadmill. That's where I am now with 3 elevation. I still have a little pain from the surgery and feel things moving around in there. You'd think with this new motivation I would be better at losing wt, but I'm not. I wish you all goood health in 2008 and beyond

I had 3 stents put in last February. After a few months I started in a women's only cardiac rehab program. Best thing I could have done. Now the hard part is keeping up the routine on my own. The holidays didn't do much for me keeping on track:D But I did regain the confidence to exercise and know how well my heart handled it. It's a never ending road we're on, but we can do it! Stay well.

Hi, I'm not new but am to this team.. I'm just trying to get heart healthy and to just be well rounded in health in general. I'm 54 (55) in Feb but I have had a real time bouncing back after mine. I did not do rehab and wish I would have... it was never suggested too me. Anyway since joining sparks it has changed my life in sooooo many ways and its just plain fun too!! LOL

I don't have time to write anything more right now but wanted to check in.
