Hi, Sandy! I live in southern Illinois. I live here with my wife and step daughter. My wife is on hospice now . She has small cell lung cancer with paraneoplastic syndrome. The paraneoplastic syndrome causes pain and nerve damage. She can't walk or use her left hand. her right hand works well enough for her to feed herself with a strap that holds her fork to her hand. I am at home taking care of her.
We are both 54 years old A little over a year ago we were walking together a lot and enjoying exercise and cooking to loose weight. now I'm not getting enough walking in and I cook for her to gain weight. Such is life! We don't know what God has in store for us!

Hi FinFin2, I don't know where you live, but I am in Buffalo, NY..lucky me huh?! Yes Buffalo, a place that I never dreamt I would live. I met my love in Amherst, NY (suburb) which was called the safest city in western NY. Anyways, I have limited time to exercise, but do get in a lot of walking at work. I am almost 60 years old and recently got to my goal weight at WW to receive my lifetime member status! That was an exciting day that brought me to tears at my WW meeting when it was announced that I had made it. The audience applauded me and wanted to know how I did it. It was a long process that took me over 8 years to lose 20 pounds. I would lose then gain, lose then gain. It was a seesaw for all those years, then I made up my mind to get serious and do it. I lost the last ten pounds when I joined in January and finished in May. My husband supported me in my venture and even joined me by dieting along with me. He also quit drinking 2 years ago and lost 50 pounds himself!
Then I stopped going to the WW meetings and started to stray from the program. I gained 4 pounds and decided to try something different to get off the 4 pounds. That lead me to SparkPeople! So I am excited about Spark and look forward to all the feedback I can get. Thanks for the welcome! emoticon
