I have decided to do a Virtual Walk to my Mom's house. I live in Juneau, Alaska. She lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. First, because Juneau is not actually connected to the road system - you can only fly or sail to and from Juneau, you can't drive or walk - I have decided to start my "walk" at the ferry terminal in Skagway, which is about 100 miles up the coast.
I am also going to be using The Milepost to help track my Virtual Walk. I totally recommend the Milepost to anyone traveling in Alaska or the Yukon. It's a book that give details about every turn off, rest area, gas station, scenic area, town, natural feature, campground, etc, etc, etc, along every highway in Alaska and the entire Alaska Highway too. Plus it is updated every year, so it is always as accurate as possible.
Anyhow, I started my journey yesterday at Skagway's Ferry Terminal and walked 1 mile. I am now "virtually" at the Garden City RV Park. I didn't do any exercising today and I'm not planning to do any on Sunday, so I guess I will be hanging around at that RV Park until Monday!
