A few years ago, I read "A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail" by Bill Bryson. This is one of the funniest books I have ever read, and it was a really interesting read!! It's in my top 10 favorite books.
I got this information on-line:
"The Appalachian Trail is a continuous marked footpath that goes from Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia, a distance of about 2160 miles. Many trace the origins of the Trail to a 1921 article by Benton MacKaye entitled An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning."
That was from this website: http://www.fred.net/kathy/at.html
I totally would LOVE to walk this in person, but, since I live in N.E. Arizona, it's a little far away! I'm going to start this as of today...I walked 2 miles today...so...2158 miles to go!!!
BTW...I totally LOVE this SparkTeam! What a great idea!
