I'm not calculating miles left - I like looking at what I've walked. Teehee! But it's all on how you look at it. Every step is that much closer.

Great! Two more walking the trail! If you want a book, I am using “The AT Guide” by David Miller. $16.00 on Amazon.

TK24Beth – the great thing about a virtual walk is you control it (including weather!) and you can live anywhere.

Kyleona – isn’t that approach trail at Amicola Falls something? 680 steps up the side of the falls!!! But you’ve made it to the trail & are on your way.

Let’s keep checking out each other’s blogs.

Best of luck on your journey! Are you walking from GA to Maine or Maine to GA? I am also doing a virtual hike of the AT, started in Amicalola Falls, GA where there is an 8 mile approach hike just to get to the trail. So far I have been at it for a week and managed to get on the Trail and today I am planning to make it to Long Creek Falls. I have a lot of great websites I am using on my blog, you are welcome to check them out and use them yourself.

Have fun! I look forward to "sharing the trail" with you!

A few years ago, I read "A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail" by Bill Bryson. This is one of the funniest books I have ever read, and it was a really interesting read!! It's in my top 10 favorite books.

I got this information on-line:
"The Appalachian Trail is a continuous marked footpath that goes from Katahdin in Maine to Springer Mountain in Georgia, a distance of about 2160 miles. Many trace the origins of the Trail to a 1921 article by Benton MacKaye entitled An Appalachian Trail: A Project in Regional Planning."

That was from this website: http://www.fred.net/kathy/at.html

I totally would LOVE to walk this in person, but, since I live in N.E. Arizona, it's a little far away! I'm going to start this as of today...I walked 2 miles today...so...2158 miles to go!!!

BTW...I totally LOVE this SparkTeam! What a great idea!
