Welcome from Colorado! Virtual walks are great incentive to get in your miles, and having a destination you're interested in adds a lot to it. I'm walking from Colorado to Maryland to my mom's house. I am just so curious to see how long it takes me as I expend my usual fitness efforts day by day. Wherever you go, godspeed!

Hi Trig - Got your comment on my Spark Page. Looks like you are rarin' to go! That's great.
Step one - what is your virtual destination and where will you start from? That's the first thing to think about. Different folks do different things.
- Some walk from where they are in reality - I guess Missouri for you - to where they want to go. They use Google Maps or other on-line mapping sites to figure out how long it takes. Then they create a thread in perhaps the Challenge Walks forum and post their distances each day. Folks drop in to encourage them. So I've seen folks write that they live in Chicago, for example, and want to visit their best friend in Billings Montana. Then they go ahead and figure out the miles and start walking.
Other folks find a trail they'd like to walk and figure out how long it is and start going. We have a couple of people over in the Challenge Walks forum who are walking the Appalachian Trail.
Then there's the group that I'm most familiar with. Several of us find a different destination each month and we select different starting points so that everyone can find a goal that is within their capabilities or perhaps one that'll make them really diligent about their walking. This month, we are headed to Port Jackson, New Zealand on the north Island. You can find us over in the Challenge Walks section and we'd love to have you join us this month. We're not so far into January so now would be a great time to join.
Whatever you decide to do, once you've got your starting and ending points, create a new Topic in the Challenge walks thread and tell us what you're going to do. Then keep track of your mileage there.
Welcome to the team!
