What made me smile? Seeing my daughter "pigging out" on a full plate of vegetables and loving it. I never would have imagined that judging by her childhood habits.

hi , Yes.
Go to www.drfuhrman.com and there you will read numerous amazing success stories. I would highly recommend getting the book "Eat to Live" --it clearly explains everything and is highly motivating. No more tracking. No more calories counting or points. No more restricting portions. Sounds like a dream come true right? in addition it prevents cancer and heart disease and he even has treated people with autoimmune diseases with some good success although not quite as good as it treats diabetes, HTN, and cardiac disease.
The book is available on Kindle also. There is a cookbook as well that has some really good recipes. Some are easier than others too make. I'm eating really delicious food. Food that feels like a gift to my body. And the weight is falling off. He is a doctor and a research scientist ....all of his premises are backed with research and science.

Today in the Chinese restaurant , my friend and I were the only ones there (we ate there) ...In came a tired looking mom with two very active and vociferous girls...who greeted us with "hellos" and said "Good bye" when they left. For some reason that made me smile.

S Campbell that is awesome! May God bless you mother.

I got good news about my mother too. She has aortic stenosis -- a bad heart valve -- so we've been having numerous consults, she's had tests and a cardiac catheterization at a hospital that does both open heart surgery and a newer less invasive procedure where they put a new valve up from the groin through a vein. It is only approved for patients at "high risk" for open heart surgery.

She is way too weak and frail for open heart surgery but the first surgeon said she was "moderate risk" to survive open heart. Her cardiologist and doctor have said she would probably never recover well from open heart surgery. We had another consult Tuesday and I wrote a letter about her poor health and years of using a walker, etc. This surgeon agreed that she is indeed "high risk" which clears the way for her to have the less invasive procedure. Without treatment she has just been getting weaker and weaker as her heart pumps less and less blood.

It is amazing what modern medicine can do. Also amazing how God made us able to function and heal, as complex as our bodies are.

Today we met with a wonderful doctor and his staff. Dr. Engleman. Not only do all of the doctors finally agree on a treatment, but they gave us news that my mother's lung cancer can be treated without loss of lung capacity. GREAT NEWS!!! God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!

I've been cooped up in my house for at least two weeks now and dhave missed church for three weeks. An elderly lady has called me twice to cheer me up....and yesterday three ladies came by to visit...and now my pastor is on his way here to visit. It is nice to know that I am missed and that people care....Makes me smile :D

it made me smile to see my husband gobble down four pieces of homemade pizza and have him tell me it was "all right"---a rave review for the grouch man And yes the cardiac catastrophe
waiting to happen is eating crap: still. I shouldn't have had it either (2 little pieces) but I need to make some room in the freezer and didn't want to throw that ball of pizza crust dough into the garbage. I SHOULD have put veggies on it. WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT??

I smiled yesterday at the reactions of people at church to the news that I'd fallen down the stairs. One woman called me "Weebles" (remember the toy? "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down:) However I am NOT smiling at the pain I have in my next pursuant to the "trip" down the stairs!

And, I forgot to say that I smiled when my poor nephew didn't know how to introduce me to his friends. He normally calls me Aunt JoJo but I guess he thought that sounded too juvenile so he changed it to Aunt Joanna but when I gave him a look, he changed it back to Aunt JoJo for his next friend. emoticon

I had lots of smiles yesterday. I smiled when I saw all the new baby pictures of the guys I work with (one was born on June 6 and one was born on June 22). I smiled when all the guys wanted to give me a hug before I left the retirement BBQ. I smiled when I watched my 13-year-old niece try to get her dad to go into the pool with her. And, I smiled when I met some of my 16-year-old nephew's friends who were arriving for a pool party.

Managed to get a large painting framed (only have to put the wire on tomorrow) and four paintings matted. With being sick it was touch-and-go but I prayed for the strength. It is labor-intensive.

I need to take them in to my Painters Guild show tomorrow evening.
