I used to try to do it the first weekend in December (this weekend) but this year it's just DH and me and we're away from the 27th to January 3rd so it seems like a lot of bother so I don't know if I'll do much if anything this year.
After Thanksgiving we start dragging everything in from our shed. We try to wait as long as possible for the tree. We do a real tree, this year at our local garden store they had the cheapest and the prettiest. So we bought one the other day. My daughter is coming home from college this weekend so we will decorate it then.

We decorated the tree a week before Thanksgiving. Then we were gone all last week, so we've been getting the rest of the stuff slowly put up the last few days. I just have a few more things and we'll be pretty much done.
I don't really decorate for the Holidays. It is just my husband (who doesn't care) and I. It is a lot of work for me to get it all down, arranged and then after the month or so is over to put it all away again... exhausts me to just even think about it.

Haven't done Christmas decorations yet, but this weekend we hung wallpaper on one wall as the start of a living room makeover. It's all photographic birch tree trunks. It looks really cool, we love it! Striking focal point.
Plan to get a Christmas tree and some pine roping for the front railing soon. Then put up lights outdoors along with the roping.
