hi Pine welcome.
I have Psoriatic Arthritis too....a whopping case of it. I've had two hips replaced and on my left hip have had four surgeries. I take Enbrel also and it isn't doing diddly right now for me either.
I had a rheumy in NYC that I"ve recently had to say good bye to because I no longer have a ride there. Now I'm starting with a new doc about an hour from my home (instead of the 2.5 hours to Manhattan) ...I had lost 70 pounds here three years ago but then had several boughts with Intravenous steroids for asthma and have gained the weight all back....It seems like it is determined to stick with me despite my efforts to be rid of it. I will keep trying. Tomorrow I'm going to start back up on the recumbent bike (I just had another hip surgery) because the PT said I could. The bike doesn't help me lose weight but it DOES help me lose inches so I will do it just for that.

Good luck to you. We are here for you through thick and thin, to celebrate your victories and cheer you up when you are struggling.
God bless,
Cynthia

Hi everyone!

I certainly will tell you when the Embrel starts working, that is IF it does. I heard from someone in the doctors office that it sometimes takes three months to work. All I have to say is Wow! That's a long time! Can those of you that are taking Embrel let us know what your starting dose is? My dose is:
Embrel 50 mg. SQ once weekly. Tomorrow will be my 8th week taking Embrel.

Status Update: I've stuck with my meal plan the last week. I haven't done very well with tracking, but at least I've done well with the meal plan. I feel pretty good, too. I have more energy. It's strange, but true, I am not very hungry. I have noticed a lot of my hunger is just from habit. It's like I'm conditioned to be hungry at certain times. It's good to know I don't really NEED to eat all the time. I am not an eating machine. Lol.

Thanks guys for making my life that much better. I appreciate you all for being here.

emoticon to the RA team! You're going to love it here, like I do! MiamiRN, I saw your post with welcoming Pine and saw that you've been taking Enbrel also, and it hasn't started working for you yet! I saw that and thought that it could've been me writing it because that's exactly my story! I'm on my 6th week/injection too, and it hasn't done a thing. I may as well have had saline injected too! ha! Well, let's hope that the 7th week does something! I start my 7th week this coming Tuesday but the Monday before, I see my Rheumy and we'll see what he says. Probably just to be patient. I know that he would've seen alot more RA patients being on Enbrel than I have! Good luck to you and we'll just keep hanging in there! Good luck to you too, Pine!! Miami, let us know when Enbrel starts working, ok? And I will too!

Welcome to the team! I can assure you that this is a wonderful bunch of people who will have your back regardless of what happens to you! I was misdiagnozed with RA myself, but I have such bad degenerative diseases that I get to stay. ;) And no one else would have me! (Just kidding, I think!)

So get in here and get your feet wet. We enjoy the poll challenges and just the general chit-chat that brings us all together. It helps to know you aren't alone in how horrible you feel on a daily basis, and that the food days are still to come!

Hugs to all,
Angela

Hi Pine,

I just joined myself after being dormant. I just found the motivation to do this. I never really gave up. I just couldn't seem to get motivated. So, now I'm about one week into this again. I'm having a little trouble tracking. I decided I needed to use a hand written journal, because I don't always stick to the Spark meal plan. It's not because I don't like it. The menu is quite good. Shopping is such a chore. You have to drag me to the store! Lol. A hand written journal will be a good back up. At least I'm trying.

As far as auto-immune is concerned, I had my first flare about 4 months ago. Methotrexate works about 20% well and the Embrel that I've been on 6 weeks hasn't done a thing. Might as well be injecting normal saline! Lol. No side effect. I guess i'm strong as nails. Lol

Horses! The last time I rode a horse it was in the snowy forest. I miss riding. I love those creatures. I have to be content with my dogs. I do love them.

Anyway, welcome! And most of all have fun!

Hi Everyone,
Coming back to sparkpeople....starting over. Put back on all the weight I lost in June.

Okay, a word about my username: When I was looking for help on the Arborista web blog to pick out a chain saw for my hubby's birthday a couple years ago 2pine4u was what I came up with. They had all these cool usernames relating to trees and chainsaws... not actually pining.

Well, maybe pining for a new start. Somehow I'm going to get back on the healthy living bandwagon!

Psoriatic arthritis is my diagnosis, but the treatment is similar to RA and it is an autoimmune condition. I may never master the Insanity Workout Program. Shoot, even watching it is painful!

So I'm hoping some chatter with similar minded spark people will give me a boost to find my restart button. Just reading some of your posts is encouraging.

Food sensitivities, a long list, just recently appeared on my horizon. So I have been hiding, sulking, feeling sorry for myself, and eating everything wrong. Gotta get out of this rut!!

Age 65 is....well there will never be a better time to get going. So I'm going to get out and muck the horse stalls....My husband had hernia surgery last week so I get to do all the heavy lifting for a while. Usually after considerable sputtering I get through it okay.

So here I go. First the horse chores. Then to the gym for the first time this year.
Too much resistance to just going there. How did I get here?

I'm looking forward to chats with you lovely ladies!! emoticon

Yes! Back on my feet again. No more exercising like the baby crawling for the goal line. Start walkin baby!

Slowly but surely, moving in a better direction!
