So sorry to hear of your dog losses Spark friends :(( That is really tough to lose them that way. Got to admit though, I am surprised anyone was brave enough to try capture a pitbull. They usually defend their territory to the end. Just their snarling bark should warn people off.
My Christmas gift idea? Mom allowing me to treat her to a spa weekend getaway at Watrous. She is finally realizing I have all this money saved because I have not been able to go anywhere or do anything for so long because of surgeries I actually have savings, even on a low disability income. The bridge income is just icing on the cake so to speak! I. Really. Want. To. Get. Out. Of. Here!!!!

yes, I often use Bible Gateway also in my studies. In the CJB there is an index that explains all of the phrases...it's a Jewish/English dictionary. I assume the online version has preserved that.....they certainly should have. Actually no I just checked, YOu cannot access the dictionary via the web. You would have to buy a hardcover of the Bible. But I did find that Gateway DOES have a Catholic Bible as well as a regular Jewish Bible. If you pull up their version list and scroll all the way to the end of it, you will see them.....
Blessings. I hope this has helped a little.

The Complete Jewish Bible is actually available now online at BibleGateway.com
I was very glad to find it there, and have been reading it, comparing with other translations. It is quite fascinating, but so very full of untranslated Hebrew and Yiddish words and phrases that it is hard to follow, even with a parallel English translation open. The Jewish Study Bible is a scholarly work with quotations from the Talmud, Misnah, etc. as Rabbis have commented on the various stories in the Bible. I think it would add a nice balance to commentary I've heard from Christian sources, and footnotes in my Catholic hard copy Bible. BibleGateway still does not have a full Catholic Bible on line, but at least it has one Jewish one now.

A happy and healthy life for my parents. My gift is not even for me. I need to know that my parents will be taken care of until I can sort out my disability/job situation.

That would take massive loads of stress off my shoulders, so that is all I want for Christmas.

Angel, I have a Bible called the "complete Jewish Bible" --it is interspersed with Hebrew expressions and words like "Adonai" and "Yaweh" are used instead of "LOrd" or "Jehovah"....The New Testament is written as though it were written by Jewish believers of the first century. I know a lot of Hebrew a lot of Yiddish so it is fascinating to me to read these Scriptures as they were originally written and intended to be read. I would really recommend you find a copy of the Complete Jewish Bible and add it to library.I think you would really enjoy it.

A visit with my mom, whom I've been worried about since the death of her significant other in October. I'm hoping to get there before Easter. If the gift is to be something wrappable, it would be a Jewish Study Bible, so I could read the footnotes, a requirement for a class I audited comparing how Christians and Jews read the Old Testament, now called the Hebrew Scriptures - rather a silly name since Hebrews wrote the vast majority of the New Testament, too. I found it really interesting and would like to pursue some of the topics discussed.

my gift would be to have some time with my daughter. Just hanging out mom and daughter time.

If I had to choose a material gift it would be orthotic shoes which would address the bunion and tendon problems Ihave on my feet.

Tiny, my love! I had a pitbull stolen from me when I lived in the ghetto. He was a green, eyed, 9-toed Brindle Red-nosed Pit and his name was Chaos! I looked all over the place to find him... stalking through the dangerous streets of downtown Jacksonville threatening everyone with a pulse that if I found out my dog was being used to fight other dogs I would kill everyone within shooting distance!

They even took down my privacy fence to get to him! Now THAT is a commitment to thievery!

A thousand dollars, which would go to giving my parents back just a tiny bit of what they have given me. I know this would help them get to Louisianna to spend time with my mother's sister who has been fighting ovarian cancer for the past 4 years. Mommy and Daddy need to go see her as you never know when the last day will be.

We learned that with my uncle Don who was absolutely healthy before his stroke took him down 11/12/12.

And even if i got $50, it would still be enough to give to them to get them closer to their goal. I would give anything to be able to help my parents after being a "leech" for that past 4 years.

One gift ... hmmmm ... a completely clean house, either done by my four children (who are all old enough to actually do it) or a gift certificate for a cleaning service.
