I'm happy to connect with others who understand RA. I've had it for 12 years. I'm 63 years YOUNG! Was on Methotrexate for almost a year. My body wouldn't absorb the drug in pill form so I had to give myself a shot once weekly - but prior to taking the shot, I had to take Phenergan so I wouldn't throw up for hours & hours. The doc recently discontinued the Methotrexate because my hair was falling out by the hand-fulls. Now I'm on Remicade but haven't really "felt" any good results yet. We'll see. I DO NOT TAKE PREDNISONE!
My weight gain started when the doc put me on high-dose Prednisone 12 years ago. The other steroid side effects were awful!
Today, I'm trying to have less pain, move more, lose weight, eat and exercise properly and work toward a more healthy state in general.
Wishing you all very good results in your journies! Tiny

hi Cassia, (pretty name BTW)...Welcome! You will find this to be a friendly and helpful group of people. Please feel free to jump in...We have a monthly birthday thread, so please post your birthday when that month arrives, there is a NSV thread (non-scale victories) where you may post those, there is a daily chat which is lots of fun, and a weekly poll as well as a number of interesting challenges...We hope you feel welcome and are eager to let us get to know you.
I have PsA (psoriatic arthritis) which is similar to RA except for some slight differences and with the addition of psoriasis. I was on Enbrel and it did help although not completely....however just got over with endocarditis (infected heart valve) and had to go off of the meds...at least for now. After my shoulder replacement, I will be going back onto them.
WELCOME. I am also on Enbrel 2ce a week, with a tad daily of prednisone. It has been such a relief! With weightloss, and regular exercise, I am finally getting some energy back. There is so much excellent information here on Spark, plus friendly encouragement, knowlegable advice and emotional support. You will find help here! God Bless your efforts!

Hi Cassia and to our RA Team! I know that you'll get to know so many of us, if not all, and you'll get good info., good advice and and the one thing that is so comforting, is the fact that you're not alone. I'm wishing you the very best with getting relief from Enbrel! I was diagnosed with RA 11/08 and pretty much have been on the same meds, just up and down with doses according to pain. I'm on Prednisone, Plaquenil, Methotrexate and Folic Acid. Along with 4 Aleve too for pain. Good luck, Karen

Hi Everyone, My name is Cassia and I was diagnosed in March with RA. Since then I have been working to figure out the meds and to not over do it. I have this inability to "take it easy" and I tend to push myself to the max. I'm doing pretty good now with flares isolated to either my hands or my feet. I'm in the process of adding Enbrel to the list, but dealing with pharmacies is proving to be difficult. So I am hopeful that I will be able to start soon and that it will be a "miracle drug" while I am a push myself to the max kinda girl I'm also a dreamer :) I look forward to getting to know you all or atleast some of you :)
