Martin Luther King is one of mine as well. I forgot about him. I just wish there were more open-minded people like him in the world.

IMHO, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King. Probably many others, but these influence me.

Oh. I don't know why I read your question as inventors. Influential people though? I guess other than Mother Teresa, I would go with the Dalai Lama. Or Indira Ghandhi.

Well, for my answer I decided to look beyond the realm of inventions and physical things --and to look at the person most known for impact on the needs of others. I choose Mother Theresa. Her name has become synonymous with compassion...and because of her personal sacrifice and commitment, many many charities were spawned and many more lives were dedicated to the relief of the suffering. I personally am not Catholic, but nonetheless, stand in awe of her accomplishments. Not every person in the world may know who Bill Gates is...but I'll bet everyone in the world knows who Mother Theresa is.

I'm so sorry, I just realized that for the week I was in the hospital I failed to put up a poll. Well I'm sure you will all forgive me. So onward for this week:

what person do you think has made the largest (or most impressive) contribution to the world in the 20th century?
