emoticonKATHYMAC734 andemoticon to SparkPeople and the team...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

Hi Kathy and emoticon to our group! If you are looking for instant motivation, may I suggest reading some of the Success Stories found under the orange Community tab above. Hi and welcome, Kathy! When you get a chance, you may want to set up a Spark Page of your own. That way, others can "friend" you, leave encouraging comments on your page, and send you a Spark Goodie now and then. It's a fun and motivational way to connect with others who share your goals and challenges. Remember to "un-check" the box marked "private status" so that others can view your page. You can share as little or as much as you like on your page.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Post often to let us know how you're doing and to get the most support and encouragement.

We're so glad to have you on the team!

Kathy, the caution that goes with it is not to get discouraged if you trip up. Just start again and try and take it further each time. I know I have several times.

Thanks Marilyn, that is a good idea. I have it in my mind that I need to drink water, eat balanced meals and exercise and by taking it slow I won't feel so overwhelmed. Good advice.

Hello and welcome to the team Kathy! Because depression makes it harder to get started with things I start with one change and keep that one going for a while then add in another. Baby steps works because small steps add up to big changes! Start with something easy like drinking 8 glasses of water a day or moving for 10 min a day. Happy to have you with us on this journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Hi, my name is Kathy and I've just joined the team. I'm a 63 year old retired mother of two children and have suffered from depression for many years. I've been on meds for a long time but every once in a while I have to have them "tweaked." Even though my meds are working I just don't seem to have the motivation to get started. Any help would be appreciated.
