Hi - welcome to SP and welcome to our Team. This is a great place to come to for support and friendship!
I hope that you have a Therapist to whom you can turn to share your troubles, and hopefully be given the tools to help you over this hurdle! They help to deal with some of the causes of depression - i.e. troubled childhood, tragedy, etc. Are you on meds? If not, then it may be that an appointment with your Dr is indicated. Sometimes depression is a side-effect of medical issues, including things like PCOS, Hypothyroidism, Diabetes, etc. A simple blood test would reveal if these are an issue. IF you are on meds, then it might be that a medication review is needed.
Keep in touch and let us know how you feel. Also, by becoming active on the message boards - particularly is this team - is a very good way to get the support that we need for this journey!
Hi. Welcome to the team. I hope you take your time and really browse the site and see all it has to offer. Such a wealth of information. Make small changes and move on from there. Stay in touch with the team and let us know how you are doing.
I love SparkPeople
Today is the first day of the rest of my life.
I am responsible for my own happiness.
My name is Bonnie I live in CT, EST.
I lost 122 pounds and have maintained it since 12/28/12.
Welcome to a team of people who understand the issues you have mentioned in your post. Depression is so difficult for others to understand because they often think you can "just snap out of it." We know that isn't true. However, you will find that adding physical activity to your day will benefit you in more than one way. Obviously it will allow you to burn more calories and it will also help boost your mood. Start with trying to add just 10 minutes of a physical activity you enjoy to your day. Keep in touch.
Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

I have struggled with depression for most of my life and lost quite a few friends because of it. The more depressed and alone that I feel, the more that I eat. I am ready to lose the weight and live a healthy lifestyle.
