emoticonJIRWINKO andemoticonto SparkPeople and the team...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome. I did make sure to put what I ate for breakfast on the tracker today, but that's all I've eatten and I haven't drank much either. It was a very busy day, but I will be tracking what I have for dinner. Also as you've said, maybe "failure to launch" isn't exactly the phrase I was looking for. I just get my mind blown seeing how successful alot of my friends from highschool have become and I'm still stuck trying to figure out what to do, working to become healthier was a needed first step and joining Sparkpeople seems like it was a needed second step as I already feel a small bit better about myself.

Hi John. Welcome to the team. I have to agree with Carol and Lynne. A failure falls down and stays down. She might have fallen down but you got back up, that is a winner. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else will believe in you. emoticon

I love SparkPeople

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I am responsible for my own happiness.

John, welcome to a great team of caring, resourceful and supportive individuals. I agree that changing your thinking about yourself with make a change in your actions. Check out a great children's book called Leo the Late Bloomer. Think of yourself as someone who is open to and ready to take on the gifts the universe sends his way... right now that gift is Spark People I saw you have eaten breakfast.... good for you. Did you enter it in the nutrition tracker? I am about to do my daily power yoga routine and then it goes into my fitness tracker.
Keep in touch.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Hello John. Welcome to our team!

You have come to the right place to find support on your fitness journey. With Spark, you are NOT DIETING---you are BECOMING MORE FIT. Spark is not a diet. Spark is not about deprivation. It is about making healthy choices in your nutritional intake and in your exercise. The Spark fitness program works the best when you set your fitness goals then make small lifestyle changes at a time until those changes have become a habit.

John, I encourage you to modify your thinking about yourself just a little bit. Rather than calling yourself a "failure to launch," think of yourself as an individual who has "fallen down six times and gotten up seven." The word "failure" is of no use to us really. It only serves as an excuse to do nothing. You are already up on your feet; you have already experienced successful weight loss, you have joined Sparkpeople, and you have made a commitment to becoming a healthier YOU. Kudos to you!!

Stay in touch, okay? I'm glad you've joined us!

Lynne

Hello my name is John but you can call me by my username if you wish. I've just joined Spark, and though I'm reluctant to admit it I know a lot of what holds me back is depression and anxiety. At the moment I can own up to being an example of a failure to launch. I have quite a few things going for me on a personal level, but as far as long term goals and ambitions I have struggled with figuring out what I want to do with my life since graduating highschool a few years back.

Edit: Adding on a bit, I've joined Spark because my mom encouraged me to and I'm hoping that as I work towards bettering my own life through tackling my weight and my depression that maybe at least knowing other people are in the same boat will boost my personal morale.
