I've known I've had PCOS now for about 4 years. Metformin for almost 2 years. It works but I still have longer than normal cycles. Plus we found out my husband has very extremely low sperm counts. TTC has been frustrating. I am attempting to keep my weight down by trying to stay active and to eat healthy. Keeping myself healthy so that in our efforts to get my husband's counts up my body will be set for the perfect timing and environment for conception.

I am blessed that at 5'7" at my heaviest I have only been 155lbs. I am attempting a 125-130 range and am currently at 147, although I am at the top of the healthy weight chart I prefer the lower end of it. As you PCOS women understand, taking the pounds off is really tough! SparkPeople has been very effective at helping me keep my calories and intake in check. So hang in there, stick to your goals and the outcome will be yours to cherish! Its hard work and don't let anyone tell you different.

Since you are TTC I hope you are taking a pre-natal vitamin. This should assist in regeneration of hair growth in addition to providing your body with essential nutrients for conception. Hang in there, losing the weight is the best thing you can do for both. Remember to give it up to the Lord and he will take your troubles and set them free. Through Him who strengthens me, I can do all things!

never noticed it before today. Maybe it was b/c a light was shining down on me? idk, but...I'm sorta freaking out. I know it's just hair but it's hair, and my fertility, and having to starve myself to keep myself from gaining weight, and eczema....and...just frustrating.

We're in the same boat LEANIEPI, I will not be taking any horomones either and first went in because of irregular periods. The easiest, cheapest option for me is to lose weight and see if it happens. Maybe after I've done what I can on my own, I'll look into further help.

Oh and I hear you about the thinning hair, I've always had such thick hair and then my last visit to my hair dresser she says well it seems like you're thinning some on top. I'm glad I have blonde hair so it doesn't show so much!

We've been TTC for more than a year with no luck. I was diagnosed with PCOS almost a year ago. We had been trying and decided to to the gyno for a pre conception consultation where she thought I had it, and then had tests done to confirm the diagnoses. I never had any 'symptom's aside from weird periods.
It turns out that I'm allergic to metformin--I had hives for almost 5 months before I figured it out. If I hadn't, I think it might have killed me. Now, for the first time in my life I'm noticing that my hair is getting thinner.
I'm just...frustrated. they'll tell me that the only things I can do to treat it are to take birth control and lose weight. I'm NOT taking artificial hormones, especially if I want to get pregnant, and I AM trying to lose weight! So...soooooooooooooooooo frustrating.

1 in 10 women have PCOS. There are plenty of people who are able to get pregnant with PCOS. I hope that you loose weight quick, and get pregnant quick as well!!!

Hello all, can't wait to have the support of this team as I try to lose a good amount of weight. I've been TTC for the last year and recently found out that it will be more difficult than expected because I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). While I'm not taking any medication atm to make it happen, I do know that losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle will increase my odds substantially.

So thanks in advance for any support! I'm looking forward to getting to know the team and giving support as well.
