Welcome! I am not sure if you had a blood test to check for gluten intolerance or a biopsy. Blood tests are not always reliable when it comes to Celiac. A biopsy is considered the gold standard for an accurate diagnosis. I have a Barretts Esophagus. I had terrible heartburn and it seems that Celiacs don't tolerate calcium well and it was causing all kinds of trouble for me. It was the heartburn that sent me for an endoscopy and the Celiac was discovered that way, quite by accident. Sometimes you don't know how sick you are until you feel better. If you feel better, then keep it up. Many people are experiencing problems with gluten because the way our wheat is grown now. There are so many more options with gluten free food and it's getting better. Just remember processed food is still just that. It doesn't matter if it's gluten free. Also, watch the carb count on some of the gluten free substitutes. Some of that stuff is twice the amount of carbs of its regular counterpart. You will feel better every day and that will motivate you to keep up the good work.

That's actually what I'm trying to do right now. I really do feel so much better without it! It's nice to go a whole few days without any stomach cramps/puking.

hi.welcome to the group.if you suspect you may be allergic to wheat i think you should do an elimination of wheat for 2 months and then eat a small amount and see how you react.i never thought i would react dramatically as i did.i gave up wheat and gluten for 2 months and when i tried it again i spent all day in the bathroom with 10-12 episodes of diarrhea.i was shocked!!! or,if you feel really good while giving up the wheat you dont even have to re-introduce it.i wouldnt want you to have the same reaction i did.lol

Welcome to the team and there are plenty of things that you can eat that does not contain wheat in them. Fruits and veggies are one of them and they are now getting more stuff out there for us but they are pricey too.

Dorothy

If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.

Hi! I'm Andrea. I'm 23, and was diagnosed with eosinphilic esophagitis and gluten intolerance by my GI specialist earlier this year. We still haven't officially discovered the cause of the EOE, but based on tracking my symptoms, I think wheat has something to do with it even though I don't test allergic to it.

I've gotten the hang of cooking gluten free, sort of, but I travel a lot for my job, and its a struggle to stay gf when I do since I don't have a kitchen when I'm on the road. I'm also very allergic to nuts, so I have to be watch out for that also.

Looking forward to meeting and learning from new people! :)
