I am not up to marathon status yet, but did an 11.54 mile race last Sept. My initial test came back negative as well, I was off gluten for 2-3 weeks and felt great! all these strange 'symptoms' that I just took for my current life were gone!
I went back on gluten for 1 week, eating it at least 3 xs a day and I was miserable, only to have that test fail! augh I had people tell me I was not on gluten long enough and to do it again, I didn't think that was the case and personally, I was NOT willing to feel bad again just for a positive test! I also opted to not do the biopsy either as basically, it would just prove I had it or did not have it. It would not have solved anything! That and the tax deductions would not have been worth it.
Hard thing with running is the pasta parties or beer after the races... oh well. Thankfully most have
I have never even had my doctor suggest that gluten could be a problem. I have had constipation and the big D all my life and told it was IBS. Had GERD, I also had to have all my teeth pulled and get dentures at age 17. Major hair loss also. Health issues too many to list. I am now 70 and have been gluten free for almost three months. Digestive issues are gone. Just think 70+ years of issues gone by going gluten free. Usually when I was constipated, I just ate more wheat thereby compounding the problem. I am hoping some of the other issues resolve also as I now venture on this new way of eating. Glad to find this list as it gives me some badly needed info.

The testing does not always pick up people who are not "full blown" Celiacs (the intestinal villi are completely obliterated). You have come to the right place! There is a ton of info here!
Even if you test negative does not mean that you don't have it because that test is not accurate. It is a general test and you should go by the symptoms.. I have most of the symptoms but tested negative too. They wanted to do the test for it that involves going in and getting a piece of the digestive track. Not sure if I want to eat gluten just for that test since it messes too much with me.
If you tell God no because He won't explain the reason He wants you to do something, you are actually hindering His blessing. But when you say yes to Him, all of heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward your obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit.
It's amazing how bad gluten can make you feel if you are sensitive to it. Just because you might have tested negative for Celiac doesn't mean you don't have Gluten Sensitivity... your doctor should know about that. *sigh*
Anyway, I'm glad you figured it out and are feeling better. It's definitely a learning experience going GF, but it gets easier with time. I found that I don't crave the bready things I used to eat all the time, and honestly I don't even want sandwiches any more. :) I'm sure you'll find your new groove in no time.

I just finished my first Quarter Marathon last weekend! Maybe one day I'll be up for a full Marathon... but not yet. That's just a bit far for me LOL.
I'm new to the group and new to the Gluten Free diet! I live in Ohio.
Here's the short of it: I used to attribute my constant feeling of bloat and exhaustion to being overweight, but then I lost the weight and while many things improved these things were still there. My doctor gave me a cynical look when I asked if it could be gluten. He tested me for Celiac and it came back negative. But, after talking to a friend I decided to try the diet six weeks ago and I feel much better! It was like someone took a pin and deflated me. And I finally know what it's like to wake up at 7 and still have some energy at 5:)
