Welcome. This site with its teams has helped me to stay GF, which is so important. I'm learning other things along the way, and have made good cyber friends. I even met one when she came to our town with her husband.
So glad you're recovering so well from your stroke, and that it didn't affect speech.

Jeanie- Welcome to sparkpeople. I started using this sight in October and love all the ways that it is helping me to get healthier. I have been gluten free for 3+ years and am recovering from multiple organ autoimmune failure. Spark people has helped me to set goals that are personal and doable for me to change my lifestyle, heal and lose weight. I am sure that you have had many challenges after a stroke and know that spark people will help you to work toward healing and making healthy choices as well as provide support and friendships. Take one day at a time and enjoy sparking! Smiles Barb emoticon

Hi! I am brand new to this website - from the first ten minutes I have to say it looks like a wonderful resource.
I was diagnosed about six years ago, and am pretty comfortable with eating gluten-free. It helps that more mainstream stores carry gf products.
I'm a senior, with three grown sons and five wonderful grandchildren.
I had a small stroke eleven months ago and am doing pretty well in terms of regaining physical strength and mobility. I walk fairly briskly with a cane, and am making slow progress with my left hand. Fortunately no effect on memory or speech!
I look forward to becoming more familiar with Spark People!
