Hi Eileen and welcome to this team. It is a great support group and know you will get alot of help from all of the members including myself.
I have been gf for 14 months now. When I was checked last July, they told me that I tested negative but went gf for two months as my two younger sisters asked me and I promised that I would. One of my sister's is celiac and the other sister her husband is celiac. Well I had gone gf for two weeks and had a slice of cake for lunch and that same day I was really sick. So if I did not have celiac, would I have been that sick and the answer is no but since I was sick I do have it and have felt better going gf too. You have to do what is best for you. I do not like the sick feeling and had gotten that way more than once. I was also told that the more you eat gluten the sicker you would get. Of course, I did not believe that well believe me I did and did not like the outcome.

I thought SP was intimidating when I started, too. It keeps getting bigger and better, so I'm glad I grew "down" as they grew "up" - lol. You are doing the right thing by changing your routine - take baby steps.
Good luck with your testing. Know that tests are not conclusive either way though. Consider gf diet if you think it appropriate even if your test is negative. I can't emphasize enough to advocate for yourself by researching your health issues, and discussing it with your doctor.

My name is Eileen. I'm 64 years old, married for 42 years, have two grown daughters and four grand daughters. I live in Oak Creek Wisconsin with my husband and my fur baby "Emmitt".
To be honest I have been a Spark member for many months. I haven't done much of anything since I joined. The entire site intimidates me:):) BUT - I have to admit - it is very, very comprehensive. My husband recently retired and we decided to get our medical check ups out of the way ASAP. That's when I received the "call". Overweight, high blood pressure, even on meds. cholesterol is out of the safe limits, and a heart murmur was detected. I also have an allergy to gluten and am awaiting tests to either confirm or "be-bunk' the possibility of Celiac Disease. I am having an echo cardiogram done this after noon.
So that's my story and I'm stickin to it. I regaining control over my health. I got myself into this mess and I need to get myself out of it. :) BUT - wow - it sure isn't easy.
