Welcome to the group! I use fitday instead of Spark for the meal planning. I plan my own meals. First I break it down by how many servings of each kind of thing I want to have eaten. I premake some things (freeze/ziploc) Congratulations on your baby!

emoticon emoticon emoticon New Mommy. Ah, to have those baby days again. But with my older, wiser gf brain - that'd be nice! lol So glad to meet you.

There are too many good things about this site to not use it because of the meal planner. My 'new' balanced meal is just trying to eat a protein source, a healthy fat, and a carb at every meal. Pretty simple really. I'm not a fancy cook as I never had energy. "What's for dinner?" are swear words in my house. *shrug* I envy women who cook and enjoy it. And I want to go to their gf place for dinner. lol

I am doing weight watchers; however I was doing this before I joined SP. So far it is doing good. I do not eat their food. I was never fond of cooking but since I am gluten intolerant, I have learned to cook food that I can eat and so far it is not too bad. My hubby likes it, but he is easily pleased and that does make it alot easier.

Welcome to a really fun and busy team, Matcha is using Albert's quote. I will set an example of a change...
I was a Weight Watcher but... I have food allergies and food intolerances are issues in the forms of gluten intolerances, sulfite danger issues and must avoid everything stating or hiding chemicals soy or corn derived in it, and anything artificial. My insulin resistance is a pre diabetes condition threat that demands that I avoid the 'things which tease' digestion. All of these complications are not factored into the spark program. I am still finding the reasons why I must avoid them. New facts about myself and food conflict arise and are issues that make me design my own program.

For example, this wonderful Gluten-Free Team was discussing the good g-f breads on the market and many liked the Tapioca bread put out by Ener-G Foods. I researched after eating a loaf (in two wks time, or course) to discover part of my current insomnia is due to chemicals in the bread formula that hurt me. I follow strict patterns to listen to my body to learn better how to choose my food. When I switched back to my favorite Food for Life, Brown Rice g-f bread; my better sleep pattern returned. I am so like 'the princess and the pea'; I can feel, react, and describe things a 'normal' could not detect.

Welcome! I have never wanted to use the meal plans on here...I can come up with a lot better meals than they have on there! I just log what I eat (usually) and try to plan ahead to stay in calorie range. The Spark recipes has a lot on it...I would never pay for something like weight watchers when we can figure out the same things for free on here. All it is is a shortcut to the exact same things Spark does.

I did WW before I knew about CD as well and I did fairly well on that program myself. i'd do it again for sure if it was free. it's too expensive to pay someone else to weigh me from week to week because that is literally all I had WW themselves do for me, everything else I did on my own.

I did great on Weight Watchers years ago before I found out about CD. It can work for any food allergy since it's a point system. You're allowed so many points a day, just have to figure out the points in what you're eating - it's a formula of calories, fiber and fat. I'd do it again if I had the money.

Guess I'm glad to not be alone with my woes about the meal planner but this is why I've not joined other weight loss systems, because of the lack of gluten free choices. I've always wanted to try something like Jenny Craig....but serious allergies aren't accounted for in like any program. I'm really hoping that someday, this changes because there's certainly a lot of us!

I think we're all upset with the meal planner here. The request has gone a number of times to the powers to be about a GF meal planner and their dietitian has said it would be too difficult to make a well balanced GF planner so won't do it.
Different people do different things about it. Personally I don't use their planner, I do log what I eat so I'm accountable for what I eat but if I eat say mac and cheese I don't make a GF mac and cheese entry I just enter the gluten version.
Personally if it wasn't for the great people here on the GF boards I would've dropped Spark People a long time ago. We share our stories and what we've learned on this GF journey to help each other. emoticon

I'm 29, a new mother of a 4 month old and ready to get back to my pre pregnancy weight....and then get back down to my wedding date weight which was 4 years ago. I don't need to be a tooth pick, I just want to be healthy and it's hard. I'm finding the menu suggestions not so much fun on this website simply because I have celiac disease and am gluten intolerant. So far I'm feeling good about using sparkpeople as a tool to get my weight and health under control. Glad to be here!
